She had been fishing or attempting to anyway. Howl remembered her mentioning never being able to catch any fish when they first meet, and remembered how he had wanted to teach her at some point. This seemed like as good a time as any, seeing as how they were right next to a fish-filled creek and seeing as how Brynn sounded so defeated.

"I do fish. You're probably just over thinking it. Here..." he said walking into the water and turning to face her. He crouched down. "Stance low". "Staying still". He then waited for a few moments, waiting for just the right moment. It was quiet. Then he lunged his muzzle into the water catching the tail end of a fish. Not the best spot to grab a fish. But nonetheless, Howl was quick to carry it onto shore and bite down on its head. "See. You just reach in grab it and pull it out." he said with a smile.
