After a moment, the puppy works up the courage to move away from his protectors and in her direction. Her tail thumps gently on the ground (though he can’t see), she eagerly awaits as he crosses the den floor in her direction. Not wanting to spook him, she doesn’t make any sudden movements as he get close enough to investigate. A strong noses inhales around her toes and she watches, lowering her snout a little and sniffing close to him. A tongue slips out and brushes over his forehead. “What is your name, little one?” she asks quietly, knowing she won’t get an answer from the child and not likely from the slumbering mother either. Dio has told her the names prior but without a proper introduction, the child could easily be any one of the three.
