But the spirit knew. She did not know exactly, but she knew when she saw those distinct markings that this was a wolf who had once been a part of this pack. Memories were not exact but they were there, she was certain of it: she knew this wolf. The Dark Master greeted the wolf first, and the spirit watched from the shadows. Well, not really the shadows, of course; her stark white appearance made her stand out even in the frosty season in the blackfeather woods, for they were dark and not covered in snow all throughout. They were both able to see her if they tried, the new-but-not-new wolf a little easier than the Dark Master, for she appeared behind the Dark Master and remained there as she studied the new-but-not-new wolf in silence and waited for him to answer something along the lines of, "but I lived here before".
