All Welcome
he'd miscalculated. a trip into the mountains had started later and gone longer than he'd initially intended, and the sun was already making its swift descent behind the peaks when the thought of returning occurred to him. he had only made it this far and the stars had come out, wispy clouds trailing across the sky. supposed he'd have to camp out here, tonight.

cortez was resigned but not unhappy as he traveled deeper into the cavern, delighting at the way the moonlight came through the fragile ceiling in spots. he settled in one of the glowing pools on the ground created by this phenomenon, pale eyes glinting like precious gems.

beyond the ache he felt in missing calder, he didn't mind being on his own at all. he was thankful to have his sister and a den within the willows, but a vagrant's life appealed to him, still. this was the life that everyone should live—the open road ahead, and a home to which you could return. the world was full of endless possibility and adventure; he was almost twenty seasons old—twenty seasons!—and still he had not exhausted all that there was to do and see and be.

it was never bad, no, to be "marooned" somewhere far from your bed. especially when your bed was cloaked in a moonbeam, tucked within a mountain in one of the most magnificent ranges he'd seen. all in all, cortez was content that his sense of time had led him astray once more.
