Luli emitted a soft, single whimper. She looked around the immediate area, felt panic rise within her that she could not at once find her most trusted puppysitter. She tilted her muzzle upward and sniffed the air, eager for some small comfort in any suggestion that Daiyu hadn't abandoned her entirely.
Probably off making sure @Haoming was keeping out of trouble, the koi tried to assure herself. Still, her little tail remained tucked as she braved a step beyond the den's entrance, eyes wide and always alert for danger.
There was no sign, however, but she did catch sight of another cub. Luli's mottled ears pricked in surprise to find a pair of unfamiliar eyes on her, then fell back against her rosy nape as she lowered herself submissively. She held her breath and willed the stranger away, hind limbs shaking fearfully.
