How could she feel the same way around them? They were not the ones who had saved her from the brink of death, even if Aditya did not know he had done so. If, on any level, she had considered his departure from this world, Brook refused to admit it or even entertain the thought in the forefront of her mind. As far as she was concerned, things would be like this forever.

He called, and as expected, she answered. Her ears were slicked back, and she licked his chin in greeting. Instead of questioning why she might have been called, she simply allowed herself to be happy in his presence. Calm, at ease, and generally less skittish than she had ever been on her own.
