I know we have another one that I'll post to when I'm back on desktop, but this one has been stewing in my head too long so phone post for @Ratio <3
The sun had only but just seen the horizon, it's soft shine breaking through morning clouds to offer the first drift of sunlight.
It was then, now, that he searched after his shadow.
The swarthy soldier had stayed through the bumps the rise had encountered. He had stayed distant when Avicus had been...soothing herself, and Prophet wondered if his Bitan had struggled with the season and sweeping dominance that had come with it all. He wondered if perhaps the man had another waiting for him this spring. Their ranks were not full of women by any means, but there was a chance that perhaps Ratio had traveled...met others.
He thought of Marina.
With a soft shake of his head, he let out a deep puff of air to announce his arrival. Whenever and wherever he found the warrior.
ooc; Oooohhh, how interesting... :o
The morning was spreading light across the sky and Ratio was coming to his end. He had patrolled in the night, using the way the blackness hid him to scour the borders and make sure he was the only thing that lurked in the darkness. It had been quiet, as it often was. The quiet didn't matter to Ratio, he would always be diligent. It would never be said that Ratio became complacent.
As dawn broke, he headed inward to the heart of the Rise to find a place to sleep. Ashlar was absent and though Ratio would never have imposed on the man to suggest sleeping next to him, he felt the pang of wanting all the same. Where the earthy male had gone, Ratio had no concept but the longer his scent faded, the worse he had started to feel. He hadn't thought he had scared him away, though he had been far more affectionate than he'd intended. Perhaps his absence was a direct result of Ratio's words and actions. The thought was unbearable.
He was lost in his own mind when the puff of noise pulled his eyes into focus and he saw his Berserkr before him. His mood lightened immediately and he loped forward to shove his shoulder companionably against the man, his tail giving a single firm wag behind him. "Prophet." he greeted warmly, cheered so thoroughly by the sight of him.

It was good to be greeted so warmly.
When the man drew close, Prophet sought to greet him by draping his head over the man's shoulder. A low rumble of approval and appreciation all in one. The Bitan worked hard, it did not go missed by Prophet's watchful eyes.
All the while, the warmth remained in his blood tinted eyes.

Ratio,He welcomed warmly back, pulling away finally.
I did not interrupt you, did I?A momentary toothy grin split his features before it was soon replaced by his usual stoic look.

As usual, Ratio looked at his Berserkr like he hung the moon. It was a different feeling to that of Ashlar - this one came with no anxiety, no worry of misstepping. He understood this relationship and what was expected of him. He rose to meet those expectations with nothing but eagerness, it caused him no strife.
"Never." he answered honestly for he could be doing literally anything and his Berserkr's presence would not be an intrusion. "What do you need of me?"

Easy,He rumbled warmly, a deep laugh threatening to roll out from his throat.
I ask only for your company right now, Ratio. And...perhaps to pick your mind, if you will let me.One brow arched with a wondering gaze fixed upon the man.
Prophet had never dug deep into the Bitan, something that was long overdue.
He took the 'easy' as a suggestion and settled himself down for the moment, seeing as his Berserkr did not have immediate need of him. Ratio's expression shifted to confusion for a moment. Pick his mind? Ratio wasn't sure what he could tell him but he was happy to give whatever information was needed. This was a welcome distraction.
"Certainly." he agreed. "My company you have and any question I would be pleased to answer."

I wish to be blunt,He told him and despite the gravity of such words, his tone was casual. Easy going as if he hoped it might instill some sense of calm.
I know of you professionally. I wish to know more of you personally. All of this said as he settled into a recline.
How you are settling, who keeps you company...
