She was done with the Lake. She had been for a while. Ever since the large, dominant female had returned. The mother of the pups. She could see the pack beginning to fracture. And when she caught wind of invaders from the south, that was her cue to get the hell outta dodge.
Aliki didn't need any of this drama, thank you very much. Without so much of a shred of regret, she turned away and set towards the west. She would begin anew. Somewhere fresh. Unclaimed. Where she could roam without the pressure of a pack or other wolves jostling for rank. She was young but had gotten by just fine. She sure as hell could do it again.
Her travels had taken her far, far away from the Lake she had briefly called home. Now, in the last light of the afternoon, it might all come to an end. Bathed in a gentle orange glow, the sweeping woodland greeted her with music to her ears. The clear rush and tumble of water. Probing forward, it did not take her long to find the winding creek, waters gleaming. Yet to discover it's forked formation, she followed along what was the right branch, purple eyes rapt with intrigue.

The sunlight filtered through the woodlands, lighting the overhead boughs ablaze and carving out shadows on the forest floor. Running water and buzzing insects droned in his ears. Nose wrinkling, a grimace formed as he snapped at the flies that dared flit about his face. If he had known that he would be harassed by the most annoying life forms he'd have never come to the Teekons. Perhaps the saving grace was how sparsely populated this portion of the lands were. Plenty enough to eat and watering holes could be private excursions.
The water source came into view and he'd bite his own tongue. By the creek bed was a steely little thing. His eyes would narrow as the corners of his mouth drew into a taut line. His stride slowed, altering his path to keep with the shadows. Slowly drawing himself parallel to the smaller wolf, a healthy distance between them.
He could just as easily keep walking. Ignore the little thing and move to a different bend in the creek. But why should he? Water was universal. And the lands were unclaimed by all that his nose told him. They both had rights to be here. Stopping to idle, he barked once. He was here, and she would know. And if they both played nice, they wouldn't have to care for more than a few minutes, as far as he was concerned.

Her dark nose lowered, skimming down towards the base of a healthy tree. As she favored this area and intended to frequent it, she might as well leave her mark.
In a half squat, she awkwardly raised her hind leg. Marking the base of the tree in a classic display of a dominant female. Others would soon know she had passed through.
It seemed word spread quickly, or either it was pure coincidence when she heard the single bark. Lifting her head, she saw the warm toned male across the other side of the creek. In reply, she chuffed back. A few sweeps of her tail.
Her body language was neither hostile nor inviting. Rather, it was inquisitive as she took two small steps towards the edge of the creek, testing his interest in any willingness to further engage.

Her disposition towards him was neutral, but not guarded. Excellent. Enough flies were buzzing around the creek, as far as he was concerned. He wasn't getting an overly excited stranger to join the noise.
His nostrils flared and he tipped his chin upwards. Scenting the air, he wrinkled his nose. Evidently, she made her statement by the creek here. He took a moment to warily appraise her and mentally reevaluate the situation. A low hum in his throat.
Rotating his body to face her properly, he turned an ear. Raising his voice over the running water,

Should I expect teeth in the back of my neck if I stop to drink here?He gestured with his nose towards her tree.
Or did I just catch you at a bad time?
