Steady strolled along the cliff, the sea's wind ruffling his coat as he looked out over the edge. It was an interesting plateau, covered in sand and dropping down to more sand. He had only seen cliffs further inland, and they were always covered in grass and moss, and surrounded by trees. This one seemed almost...bare.

He turned his gaze toward the ocean, and something on the ground caught his eye. It looked like a den. He walked over, mindful that there might be someone in there. He sniffed around, the scents telling him someone had been here recently, but it didn't smell as if they were there now. Still, he gave a chuff to announce his presence, and waited to see if he would get a reply. After a few moments of silence, it was clear there was no one in there.

His brows furrowed in confusion. Under normal circumstances, Steady would not be bothered to investigate an empty den, but there was something that pulled him in. He questioned it for only a moment before stepping into the darkness. His eyes adjusted quickly, and as he reached the den area, he could see something poking out of the floor. With a paw, he swept the dirt away to uncover a jaw bone. Hmm... Adeline might like that, he thought. With his own jaw, he gently picked up the bone.

All of a sudden, the wind seemed to pick up, but it confused Steady, as he was inside the den. Maybe it was poorly constructed and the digger hadn't accounted for the breeze. He turned and exited the underground dwelling with Adeline's gift. He made his way down the slope of the plateau, intending to turn northeast to head back to his mountain.

But, something stopped him. A sound, a voice, a howl. It growled in his ear and he turned around quickly, thinking there was someone there. But, nothing. He shook his head, figuring he was hearing things. He took a step, and stopped. There it was again, pulling on him, pushing on him, forcing him. Then, his paws were moving in a different direction. He growled, wanting to fight it, but these forces were strong. He headed South, trotting along the coast as the waves lapped at his laws.

To be continued... Here.
