Far from it - he could not speak for other packmates, but he did not respect the dark-furred man. In Birk's eyes he had done nothing to prove his worth, his usefulness other than being smart enough to marry well. 

Therefore rather than backing off, he made bold steps forward, until he was standing face to face with Stark, his posture mirroring the other's and he growled as well. No matter, how the fight turned out, one thing was clear - this pack was too small to keep both of them.
