The Sentinels there's a black crow sitting across from me

there was a gentle crunch underfoot as dalia walked through the ashen forest. whether it was from the cold weather or the charred ground, dalia was unsure-- perhaps a combination of both. she didn't think it mattered much, there was no prey here for her to scare off anyhow. 

the only stories of magic that dalia had ever heard were stories of healing. portia did not believe in any magicks, and dalia had never heard dio mention such things. if there were any magicks in this forest, dalia could not sense them. but it was hard to sense much of anything in this rubble. 

she spotted him, he blended in so well with the blackened territory-- unlike dalia, who stuck out like the moon in the night. she watched him curiously for a moment, as he looked like he was pondering something, not daring to interrupt him.
