@Huntington

He wandered through the decimated forest. Curiously looking for the source of blood that was faintly carried to him on the winds. If someone was injured, he wanted to help them. His marred face sought for the distinguishable red splotches.
He found what seemed to be the source of the fight. The ground seemed scuffed although layered with snow. He dug a little bit to find iced particles of blood in the snow.
It was old. Weeks perhaps.

Starting to look around, he wondered if there was a body. Or more. Hidden in the snow. He was digging up the mounds, searching for the traces and tell-tale signs that would reveal the story to him. Engrossed in his work, he was becoming less aware of the trees around the space the fight was enclosed to.

how amusing she came upon the origin of her previous patient without realizing it. blood, old blood, caked the snow around her. she had met the wolf who was at the cause and result of this days prior, by the coast. his scent was still fresh in her mind. it appeared she had found the reason for his wounds. pale gaze lifted, spotting a new man a few paces away. he seemed engrossed with his work. prodding and digging about. mayhap he was unaware of the situation, mayhap he was an ally of the other she had treated. well, whatever the case, she chose to approach.

she did not, however, do it out of concern or compassion. the man was there. she was here. it mattered not. others had taken it upon themselves to approach her without meaning these last few days. why not do the same as them? get into the mood of, ah, native customs? "no body. or bodies" she mused as she neared him, though her tone was a bit silent it could still be heard "a good omen, perhaps?" she was speaking of the fact no fallen souls had rested here. no dead.

and how utterly dull that was.

His head lifted to settle on a black and white woman. A face of purity whilst her body was shrouded in mysteries. His ear tilted before turning to face her properly.
"How would you know?"
The healing scab down his face tore at the edges, stinging dully. His voice raw like the tree bark of an ancient oak. Was she one of the ones injured here?
Did she find one who was bleeding out?

He slightly shook his head to himself and cast another gaze around. She was right, though, because he was yet to find a body. He nodded in agreement. It was a good omen for it signaled that there wasn't some crazy killer roaming 'round. Probably.
He dipped his head, thinking about what he could find out about who may be here and what they went. Would the she-wolf help?

she merely stared back at him, a slow knowing smile creeping to her skull-clad features. he would reach the same conclusion - else he was an utter fool. realization seemed to dawn on him as he glanced around their surroundings. there it was. there was the assumption, there was using the brain. she lacked any outward injuries so she could not hope to be one of the ones here that had been bled. "unless they, ah, moved the bodies" she whispered morbidly, though loud enough for the man to hear her words.

she was merely voicing her opinion. however grim it was. who would move a body? to hide evidence? to drag the dead thing back to the family and friends to cement their deathly claim? there was a whirlwind of possibilities. however, the point was the blood here would attract other creatures soon enough. mayhap not wolves, even. "are you, perhaps, a pack wolf?" she asked him after the silence stretched. he seemed concerned about the state of this area.

He observed the girl, listening to her. She indeed had morbid thoughts that she chose to share with him. He tilted his head, letting an ear tip. Why would someone start to drag off a body.
Ah, that's right.

He remembered dragging the pups body back to the Alpha, presenting it with a flourish as it's head hung limply from his jaws before dropping with a thud onto the stone.
He shook his head softly for he had left that part of him behind. Or at least tried to, he felt the darkness seep through him at times, plaguing his actions.
Eating the rotting corpse that had decomposed beyond recognition.
Wintersbane.
He turned his head, almost retching at the taste he remembered in his mouth, sour and putrid.
He could feel his stomach churning as he remembered those thoughts. Silence.

He turned back tot he female, composing himself in the brief seconds before tilting his head towards the claim they were making in the Weald, "Pledged to sister."
He drew his eyes back to her and remarked her markings with renewed curiosity.
Even to cover the nightmares that fed into his waking hours; as well as the night.

"to sister" she mused, repeating his lack of information. as if she would know what that even meant. Huntington was new in every sense of the word. she did not even know what this land was called, even less on how she had come here. she had merely walked. walked far away from what she briefly knew and accepted her calling as a wanderer quite easily. she would pledge to no pack as fickle minded as these wolves here were. divided loyalties, divided trust... who needed that? at the drop of a hat, most would run.

he had been no help in giving her the information she sought. "and what community does 'sister' hail from?" she asked of him, pressing the man gently for more knowledge "is it close by?" again, his concern for the blood and the people involved in this assault suggested he lived close to this area. an attack on the border was one thing. potential murder was another. she did not ask to join, however. if he appeared to be recruiting, the man would be mistaken. instead, he gazed upon her body as if she was an interesting specimen.

this was not the first time in this realm another had, however. "see anything you enjoy?" she asked him bluntly, though with a trickle of forced amusement. she had a small smirk upon her features. oh, how she enjoyed picking apart another's interest in her features. how amusing the reaction was usually.

He almost laughed at her comment. He did like what he saw, interesting patterns adorned her body. He gave a curt nod in affirmation to the proximity of the pack and an inclination of a head to gesture her markings.
"Interesting."
He didn't look for anyone, but now he'd found his sister he didn't know what to do.
Build her empire, s'pose.

His thought over what she was asking. Turning the words over to find the meaning and to assemble a reply. He slowly sat, not feeling threatened by anything; his ears still flicked to and fro.
"Family." He replied heartbeats later, hoping that was what she was looking for. "Sister is family." Unnessicary words. He didn't need to speak them but... his voice was becoming less raspy the more he spoke. The gravelly tone fading out to clear the way for a softer stream. Rich like a fine pine scent. He spoke again, "Living in the Weald, north."
He sighed heavily for that was the most words he'd ever spoken to one person at a time. He let a smile twitch his lips.

she could not hope to complain about the lack of words he spoke, for she was similar in that regard. the only times she ever voiced herself was to obtain more knowledge. like this instance. the first creature she had come across upon entering this land had been little help. she had been accused of being a 'floating head' with not much else. she could almost leer at the memory. almost. "yes" she breathed, patiently. Huntington knew that was what he meant. sister was a family word. any fool could guess that.

the way he lacked 'my' between the words however... it had been vexing. still, she pressed on. "the pack, then. what is it called?" she pursued the lead given to her. community. pack. it was the same thing in essence. in order to properly settle in a region, she required to know about the neighbors it possessed. "the sister you speak of, is she the leader?" or merely a playmate he had pledged himself to in another way? out of loyalty, perhaps. that is what a pledge is. he did not give much.

"Neverwinter Forest." He gave up the name of his pack, they were to be known somehow. He nodded, "She is," he confirmed. Why was she so interested? Did she want to join?

He supposed he wouldn't mind her staying, she seemed nice enough. "Stay?" He questioned, not a request but merely to find her intentions. He cast a gaze about, expecting something new from the site to jump out at him. He wanted to get back to his investigation to find the state of those who were involved. His breath clouded the air in a huff, unsure now on what to do. Normally, he would just up and leave but... that seemed too rude for the situation. He returned his gaze to the girl and closed his eyes for a few heartbeats, wondering on what to do.

ah, there were the details. at long last. the man before her did not speak very much, choosing his words seemingly carefully yet without some caution. Neverwinter Forest, hm? she would seek it out on her own time. the man's sister was the leader, so she could easily drop his name - if she knew it - for safety, perhaps. he questioned her in his own way, however, causing her eyes to dart back to him. "I think not" she mused, though not unkindly. it was still, however blunt. "I seek no aggression against Neverwinter, however." she added.

how was she to explain? the pack, and pack life by extension, did not interest her? that many did not, and she was a loner? perhaps it was easy, though she was loathed to give out information without it being given freely in return. the man offered little to her in that, and she chose her own words equally as careful. "I prefer to wander" she, at last, gave the man. she would not so easily submit to another's rule. not unless their rules were aligned with her intentions. "am I keeping you?" she asked him, unblinking gaze bulging slightly. he had a pack, and therefore duties to attend to.

He nodded slowly. He knew some weren't to be held down by packs. Duties often didn't sit well with wanderers; they'd end up deserting, nine times out of ten.
He sighed softly, giving her a small smile and shook his head. He was restless these days, wanting to go to the furthest reaches, yet wanting to stay at his sister's side.
Silently, he mused. Turning over the same ideas again and again.
Most days were the same.

He stood, deciding to ask a question, "Do you know who was here?"
She seemed to know there were no bodies at the site, so did she happen across one of the warriors here? He might as well pry whilst starting again to look for a trail. Though he doubted he'd find one. The scents were old and covered.

her gaze drew away from the man as she stared emotionless about the scene. she did not know for certain who had been here. there could be many injured and bleeding people that tread here. there could be many in this new realm, even. she did not pinpoint it exactly, though the smell of that young man was clear. unfortunately for this man, she did not know the name of the wolf she had assisted. she could give him nothing in that regard.

"I do not know" she lied easily, feinting her ignorance. for some reason, she felt compelled to lie about her hand in this. the injured man she had helped could be enemies with this Neverwinter pack. that would make her a proxy for revenge. her own personal safety was more important. even if Neverwinter could be allied with the injured. that man was long gone now. "I am quite new here. the scents, they are not concrete." she added, turning her gaze back to him.

the smells and sights almost suffocated her. almost. she was not weak-willed. brimming questions on why a pack wolf would want to know kept themselves at bay. she appeared to be an innocent bystander in this. true, she had not physically attacked another. did not spray their blood. but one could never be too careful. plenty of witchhunts were conducted.

He nodded slowly and breathed out a soft cloud of resignation. His investigation was over, it seemed. Perhaps he'd know not who was here and of their state now. He sought to leave, to return to Grezig and ensure she was safe from whatever fiend that had passed through here. They better be long gone by now.

He inclined his head to the she-wolf; an invitation to follow he supposed she would not take up on. But he would be glad for some silent company whilst he made his way back to the Weald and certainly wouldn't hold her to stay.
He turned, making away through the charred trees, brushing up against a few to stain his fur dark. His tail swished softly, held above his hips. He felt at home here, and he wasn't afraid to show it. Not even to the nearby back on the mountain. He wouldn't have trouble with them if he could avoid it.

He turned his head slightly, not fully showing that he was checking for her. But all the same, she could see his check; he didn't mind.

he accepted her words as the truth. though she was not quite worried about such. she could lie quite easily to others and not bat an eye. her internal emotion was fully masked by the deadpan expression she gave other people. the man before her would turn, beginning to walk away. she did not miss his invitation though he was not going her way. back to his pack, she supposed, and Huntington was not keen to visit.

one on one was perfectly fine for the loner. moving amongst many bodies at once? that was not. it would take her a while to warm up to a crowd, whoever they may be and whatever their intentions were. she lacked the information to go wandering after a complete stranger. Neverwinter was one thing known, but best to be cautious. especially around men. she knew nothing of the other. it was unwise to follow him further.

she too turned and began to make her way in the opposite direction. nary a reply was given, as he did not bid her farewell either. merely two strangers passing by in the area. that was all they happened to be.
