Everyone is welcome!!

The sun was still a while from rising, but Kavik had already been up for some time. The constant rumbles coming from the mountains had him tense and on edge, and so sleep evaded him as usual. He didn't bother checking the caches at this point, it would just be disappointing, so he made his way down to his favorite part of the creek where it hugged the side of mountains. He wasn't sure anyone else would feel the same, but he could swear that the water tasted better here. Plus, it was often shaded and cool, which made for a nice haven from the sun on warmer days.

He stopped as his paws entered the cool water and lowered his head down to drink. He had only managed a few laps when the rumbling started again. This time it was louder, though, and he lifted his head to scan the area around him. Then the ground began shake with small vibrations that very quickly became much more intense. He had to brace himself against a tree to keep from falling. The quaking went on for far longer than any of the other rumbles he had felt the last few days. Small rocks began to tumbled down from the peaks, landing in the creek with a splash, and he risked moving farther from the water to avoid getting hit. The rumbling in the ground finally subsided, and he took a few steps forward before the sound of more falling rocks made him freeze.

This time, a group of bolders tumbled down the rocky slope, and he watched in horror as one bigger than he was landed in the creek. It smashed into the bank, cracking the trunk of a large tree before breaking into four or five smaller pieces.

When all seemed quiet, he trotted back over to the water and inspected the damage. There didn't seem to be too much aside from the tree that seemed ready to fall over at any moment. He worried still. Was it safe to stay here? What if this happened again and someone got hurt? He didn't know what to do. It was hard to believe this was a one time event. They had been hearing the mountains rumble for days, and things had now gotten worse. What if it only continued in that trend?

Soter was not the smartest of the Creek's brood. So when the earth rumbled he bolted. The smarter thing would have been to perhaps hunker down until it ended, but off he went on jello-like legs. He had his father in his sight before he completely ate dirt. Tripping and tumbling against the shaking earth. Even here with his head sideways as he laid upon the ground, he could see with shock and horror as a rock much larger than he could have ever imagined cracked a tree.

As the earth settled back down he hastily moved back onto his paws. DAD! He cried as he crashed onto the scene fully, aiming to bury himself in the side of his father. What's happening? This far Soter had only ever really been calm and cool but he was absolutely terrified in this moment. In case the fear rolling off of him in waves didn't make that clear, perhaps the tears welling up in his eyes conveyed it.

She's quick to rise when Soter bolts in response to the earth's rumbling, sighing softly as the boy heads for Kavik, though the shaking forces her to pause for several moments. She often thinks being a mother is thankless work, seeing the way the children idolize their father — but she's not thinking about that right now. The earth's rumbling worries her, the territory's destruction even more so, and she's been anxious for her husband's company as well; they have much to discuss. She trails after Soter, arriving only a few moments after the boy tucks himself against Kavik's side. She keeps her own worries to herself for now, hearing her son's question. She only watches the pair for now, offering her mate a gentle smile for support if his gaze should find hers.

He whipped his head around at Soter's cry, curling around him as his son buried himself into his side. you're okay, he murmured soothingly, his gaze lifting to meet Alessia's as he became aware of her presence. I don't know, he answered when Soter inquired about the quaking. He tried to keep the worry from his voice, but there was no way he could keep it from his expression as he looked to his mate again. He feared they might not be safe here anymore. He needed to discuss it more with Alessia and Rosalie in private, but here was no need to involve the children yet. Anxious eyes wandered over to the broken tree trunk and the boulder that lay in big pieces near it. Dread pooled in his stomach at the sight, but he tried to ignore it and comfort his terrified son.

How could he not know? Hadn't his parents known everything from the day of his birth? They had taught him so much! Now when he needed knowledge the most they had nothing to depart upon him. He wanted to be angry at them but...only worry consumed him. If they didn't know then who would?

He quickly scurried from his father's side with a tail tucked between his legs. His path was a direct line to his mother. He could only hope to find something to soothe his worries in her touch. Perhaps she would have something to add to his father's words.

Whatever was happening, he knew he needed to reassure his worried son. He followed Soter over to where he nestled against his mate. He nuzzled Alessia and then offered the same soothing touch to their son. The earth rumbled again in the distance as if to counter the comfort he attempted to offer, and Kavik pressed against Alessia and Soter, hoping to keep soothing them anyway. They would figure this out; they had to.
