As it often did, curiosity got the best of her—and it was easy to be lured away from the mountain when there seemed to be such a commotion to the East. Now from Sunspire itself, she couldn’t hear them, in fact she would have been oblivious entirely had she been confined to only her home, but the further North from Duck Lake she ventured to what she thought was outside of Teekon there was still life abundant and brewing, and she quickly recognized the call of her own kin. There was a pack, resting just outside of Rising Sun, and she tiptoed closer to investigate this new development.

Immediately Kipling did not think it had been claimed by the silver wolf she’d met down South, although she knew him to be scouting land and choosing a place for himself. But of course, she thought he was intending to in Great Bear. To scent him so heavily here, where the air was clearly stamped with a ‘do not cross beyond’ warning—well, it threw her off. But the she-wolf wasn’t as ignorant as she was curious; and she heeded the warning as she turned away from the oncoming bypass. Feeling a small ounce of victory at having gathered the information she intended to take with her back to Sunspire.

The agouti Roman had been patrolling the borders of his new home, keen green eyes scanning the area for any intruders or outsiders that lingered by the borders. Then he smelled a wolf, a female but she did not cross the borders which was a relief. At least someone heeded the warning that the scent markers threw at them. She smelled of a pack that he had walked across but decided not to join. Was it the Sunspire?

"Hey!" he called out, remembering that wolves here usually did not know latin, the language of his people, the language of Rome. He strode forward, tail arching dominantly over his back as he gazed at her, curiousity hidden behind his sharp mint green eyes. He wondered what was she doing so far from home.

Kipling, who had been walking away, considered not turning around--after all, as far as she was concerned her business there was finished. But the voice seemed to demand that she stop, and she reluctantly she halted, rolling her eyes as she did so. She couldn't imagine what the male wanted from her, perhaps enraged she had come to close? But to that effect, she had already been retreating.

Wrinkling her nose, she considered her options briefly, before deciding no matter what it was that he was after, she would do well not to make it worse. Smoothing out her expression, she turned. Yes? She asked casually, her tail limp at her ankles as she faced him, bright eyes shining with curiosity, as she forced a small smile to grace her features.

"Yes?" the stranger asked and he smiled briefly, mint green eyes scanning her briefly wondering if she had any ill intentions when she came so close to their borders. "Why did you come so close to the borders?" he asked softly but his tone was edged with danger. Do not underestimate any Roman because of their age because they would prove you wrong immediately. "You are not a loner and you smell of a pack, were you spying on us?" he spoke sharply.

His gaze now half amused, half calculating as he looked at her. His first duty was to protect his pack and so far he felt like he was doing a pretty good job with that but of course he knew he could do better. He always could do better but everyone had their flaws and nobody could be perfect, except maybe for the gods.
