All Welcome
It was a blessing being away from that bloody desert. The heat, mind numbing and blistering, making her pelt itch. No, she was definitely not a wolf suited to the desert.
Her mind spun with the recent encounters she had....That snappy little bitch at the pack meeting....the other stupid slut in the fox meadow...
Was she not good enough for him? Had she perhaps done something to make him prefer another at his side?
She slipped into the frigid water and moaned audibly. This. This was what she was used to. The cool water embracing her, soothing her. Now if only it could sooth her mind.
"This is what you get for running around with Currs," she sighed to herself, rolling languidly. "Why did it have to be him? Of all the wolves I could have met, could have developed this... attachment...to...it had to be a dog." In the literal and figurative sense of the word. A sweet, musky odor met her nose as she hauled herself out onto the bank, and it captured her curiosity. Perhaps a hunt would distract her.

Auriel had followed the black she-wolf down from the heat of the mountains to this creek. She had fond memories of chasing a few otters here and there. She wanted to make amends with her pack leader, the hierachy is there for a reason. Letting out a soft bark to announce her presence, she stepped into the sunlight and waited for Nemisis to allow her to come closer.

"I wish to speak with you." She admitted, heart pounding. No one else was here. If this she-wolf decided to kill her and bury the body nobody would know what had happened. She'd die here alone.

She had been followed, apparently.
She sighed in frustration, tearing herself away from the trail she had been Persuing, to look at her persuant. Ah, the mouthy bitch.
"You've got a lot of nerve..." She started, eyes narrowed. She could kill her, right here. Throw her body in the river, problem solved. For a moment she strongly considered it. But the pack would know. And short sighted as she may often be...no. this had to come to an amicable end.
"Hunt with me. The water is cool here, and there's fish. Prey will come down from the mountains to drink here as well. It's close enough to our borders- we should try to mark it as our own."
Again, there goes that hypocrisy....just sailing right over her head. Oh if she could see herself she would break another rib laughing.
Wordlessly she dropped her nose to the ground, inhaling the sweet, musky, fishy scent accumulated at an odd divot in the muddy bank, following it up to a burrow of some sort.

She watched Nemisis lift her head from some kind of prey trail, so the females words did not surprise her all that much. "Hunt? I'm good at fishing, but I also know there are some otters nearby." She tentatively made her way to the Overseer, looking into the creek to watch the minnows flitter about in the water.

"You are my alpha, I understand that. I want to respect you, but my values are set in stone." The golden female looked to Nemisis before continuing. "Maybe if we spent more time togther, I could grow to be loyal to you." For once I mean it.

Ooops well To be fair Nem doesn't know Sagtannet existed...or that Arrow lake exists yet...I just realized shes planning to claim territory literally right on top of Sag *cryingemoji*

Otters. That must be the scent she's been following. She wonders in her mind what an otter looks like, having never seen one before.
Her mind comes up with some ludicrous combination of a badger, a rat, and a fish, and she decides that it's ugly, but probably tastes good.
"What is it with wolves eating fish? Disgusting slimy floppy things." She grimaces in disgust before beginning to dig at the hole filled with the scent of otters. The conversation turns serious, and Nem pauses again, chewing her words.
"What you did was gutsy. But also, incredibly stupid. You are extremely lucky I am not my father- you would have been executed where you stood." It's not a threat, merely a statement of the pack.
"I grew up where the social order was well established, and it was presumed it would continue. They feared and obeyed my father, and therefore feared and obeyed me. I am...unaccustomed to having to establish that order myself."
She turned back to her digging, wide northern paws shoveling sand and mud.

The she-wolf nosed around until she found the bolt-hole of the otter den, crouching at the entrance in case one of the otters came this way. "Otters are pretty big, and aggressive. We should try for a baby." She listened to Nemisis talk, her expression slowly becoming empathetic despite herself. So that was it. Entitlement gone wrong, leaving her lost. No idea how to lead but believing she had been born for it.

"My mother was much the same way, though only with her own blood. But fear will only get you so far, if they fear you and your offspring, what has happened to you will only happen to them too. You will be betrayed again, it is only a matter of time." She tried to keep her tone neutral, not wanting to anger the she-wolf again. "As for...the issue we fought over. He tells me you have no claim, yet you tell me you do. I hope you can see where I am confused."

We should try for a baby.
Just how big were these creatures if a baby was suitable to feed both of them? The hole was no bigger than an animal roughly the size of a bobcat.
A warning about the outcome of her Reign, and Nem tried not to scoff.
"If you think a mutiny is how I got here, you're mistaken. I was arranged to mate with a male from an allied pack. An unworthy male desired me, and when denied, raised a challenge. He had coated his mouth in poison, swallowing honeycomb to keep it from affecting him. My father naturally died from his injuries. In My pack it was custom that in that case, all ranked shewolves of the pack are either taken as slaves, or killed and eaten. Pups are slaughtered to bring their mothers back into heat."
It was a bloody way of life, but she was born into it and knew nothing else.
"My escorts lead me to safety so the Bloodbourne name would continue."
The subject of Donovan was brought up, and Nemisis abandoned her digging yet again, despite the panicked squealing now beginning to be audible.
"I am his equal. His partner. I don't know what it is I desire....but I know I desire more from him. There is a weakness I am overcome by whenever in his presence." She sighed, angry at allowing herself to become so vulnerable. "I want him as mine. I want to be the only mother of his pups. I want him to pay attention to me alone. Is that too great a thing to ask from the one I'm supposed to be ruling beside?"
She asked, words tumbling from her mouth as though she had tasted rotten carrion.
"If he takes another, I am replaced. And I will not be replaced."

She had chased an otter before, but it had rounded on her and gave her a nasty nip on the hind. A baby would be much safer to eat, and it would be big enough to satisfy them both. Nemisis' words shocked her into silence for a moment as she stared at her, blue depths wide with terror. "They...what!? I would rather die then allow my pups to be killed. That is monstrous."

Auriel listened with gentle understanding, but it did not make her feelings die out. "It is too much to ask if the male in question wants more then just you. No matter how many people you fight, who you drive off. If it is him that is the issue, your problems will never go away. Having said that...I will look for another suitable partner. I can not garruntee I will find anyone, but I will look." She promised, flashing Nemisis a soft smile. She wanted to befriend this she-wolf.

She was unaccustomed to the reactions of hearing the ways of her home.
Donovan had merely thought it fascinating, though even had flinched at the murder of pups.
"It is the way of my people. A family that is strong enough will not be conquered. But he won through a cheat. He will not survive the winter." Of this she was certain. His pups would overthrow him at the urge of their mothers.
It was odd to her, when she turned back to digging, the squealing and snarling growing louder, how Auriel reacted to the thought of having pups.
"I don't share your sentiment, I'm afraid. Never been the maternal type. My mother certainly wasn't. Once a pup is mature enough to walk, talk, and take from the cache, I no longer have any reason to be gentle."
Again, it wasn't through any abject cruelty or abusive tendencies. She was just... merely that way.
And then the conversation turned to Donovan again as a round, brown snout lunged out of the hole, screeching like a wildcat and snapping ferociously. She took several bites to the face and backed up a bit in surprise, as another of the slippery creatures tried to escape through Auriel's hole with a pup in its mouth. Finally she managed to grab the thing around the middle and shake it violently until it's flailing became twitching. proudly, she leaped up the embankment, settling down to snack on the creature in front of its horrified family.
