All Welcome
Title translation: fated

Sun struck like fire, hot and wicked against the dark russet coat of the lone stag. The bleached points of his crown of antlers reared threateningly upward and the frame of the prince moved over the rise in the terrain to look down upon a vast expanse of greenery and lush summer stems. It struck him as a type of paradise.

A kingdom for the taking.

Rohan moved down the slop of the hill and into the fen where he paused with flared nostrils to drink in the scent of his surroundings. The first and most alarming scent was that of passing predators. Rohan was no stranger to the sharp tang of the wolf. His ears swiveled before he bent his head to pluck at the green grass and earthy shrubs.

Dominika smelled the enticing scent of meat on the wind. Living flesh. A deer. A stag. Dominika was alone—without a pack. And without a pack, the idea of taking down a deer was… impossible. But the perfectionist side of her always shone through in moments like this. It was why she shunned pack life. She had always felt that doing things her own way was better. And if she messed up, then she’d be the only one who got hurt.

It was summer, and she was full enough on the hares and other small creatures she had hunted recently. But she knew she should keep her hunting skills sharp. She would not hunt this creature to kill it—only to observe and to keep her body in top form. She turned towards the scent and began to trot in the direction of the stag. Soon, she saw it, bending its head down to eat the grass at its hooves.

She stood, taut, ears erect and forward. She hardly breathed. She watched.
