All Welcome
by the week he grows; sprouting like a weed. no longer is he content to linger in the confines of the birthing den; space shared with his mother and sisters. though there is a distinct chill in the air and a lack of warm, buttery sunshine, hakon ventures boldly to the mouth of the den all the same. for a moment, he is hesitant, peering out into the greyscape of the overcast sky and dulled colors that paint the vale.

he draws in a breath, peers behind his shoulder and slips outside the den.

the chill creeps in closer now without the warmth of the den; but hakon does not let it deter him. curiousity leads him forward; unbidden and unhindered by fear or caution.

let me know if it's okay to toss her in! :D

she was not much older than the boy at all. although two weeks did seem like plenty of time in the life of young children. she had not yet properly played with them. mama and papa often times made sure they were not too rough with the younger children.

but here was a boy, all alone. wandering about. much how she liked to do! like she was doing!

did you wanna see the sun too? she asked as she flopped down onto her rear a few feet away.

that's perfectly fine! thank you for joining!

the sound of a voice: unrecognized, floats upon the wind to hakon's ears. his steps hesitate, drawing to a stop as he peers over his shoulder. the other youth is draped in a pelage of ruddy browns, reminding him of a few birds' plummage he's glimpsed when he's allowed outside the den. it's rare he's outside of his mother's watchful eye but with her paws full of his siblings, hakon takes the risk this morning.

yes. hakon replies simply; though a small frown tugs at the edges of his lips as he peers skyward to the overcast, drab sky.

yes.

she noticed the way he looked up at the clouds. how the sun was hidden, even if she knew it was there. maybe he didn't. but that was okay! sometimes you gotta sing. she informed him softly. do you sing?

she lived in a world where everybody sung. her mother, her father, her siblings! she could not fathom the idea that this boy might say no.

she is a ray of sunshine, full of bubbly energy that hakon cannot quite seem to muster — though he does not yet know how exactly to communicate it, or what to do with it. serious and sullen appears to be his demeanor as of the moment. frustrated that he does not quite understand the trials and tribulations his mother ( and by proxy himself and his siblings ) have been needlessly put thru.

sing?

no. he answers, again favoring a one word answer. his vocabulary is not as advanced as hers and though he does not yet know what to name then fluttering feeling prickling at him, more experience would tell him it was embarrassment. wassat? he asks then, clarifying a beat later with. sing?

The cold air outside had began to creep into the den, nipping at her it seemed. It became especially noticeable with the absence of her brother and his warmth, spotting his figure just outside. It was difficult for her to stay warm with her lack of body mass, so she usually remain inside, exhausted even with her lack of activity.

This chilly morning though would be a day where she appeared outside, but her steps were slowed as she came up on the mouth of den. The red girl seemed so spirited as she spoke to her brother. Arika's ears perked at the talk of singing, what was it? She finally made her appearance, but seemed to linger behind her brother.
