Emberwood Bears

With some shelter provided by the trees and multiple batches of thick foliage, the wood seemed sound. There were several tracks showing that small deer herds had passed through the trees. Their markings were old, but it seemed a good place for herds to settle through cold nights. It would likely mean that the other wooded areas would have some chances for prey, too.

Reno lowered his snout to the earth and sniffed. The snow had been disturbed by a pair of startled rabbits that had been digging through the snow. The wolf couldn’t find what had alerted them, only that their large hind feet had left distinct markings in the snow to show their retreat. He followed the tracks with an easy trot.
