Saghani Noatak was born to a northern pack called Noatak Shores, which was an intensely superstitious, fearful family of survival-minded wolves. The wolves of Noatak Shores scraped out a meager livelihood deep within the arctic tundra by fishing from a nearby river, and there never seemed to be enough to go around. Death was a constant, oppressive presence, and the spirits of the dead were thought to be spiteful and a source of bad luck should they be angered. Much energy was spent attempting to appease these capricious spirits and blaming bad luck on arbitrary situations and occurrences.

Enter Saghani, a jet-black pup born to a pack of all-white wolves. Her unusual coat was already seen as ill-luck, and that was doubled when she was the only surviving pup born that spring. She was an omen of disaster, and even her own mother lived in fear of her. In an effort to spare her family the continued pain and suffering provoked by her mere existence, Saghani departed from her birth pack as soon as she learned to pull a fish from the river. No doubt the wolves of Noatak Shores were relieved to see the back of her.

Saghani renamed herself “Sakari” upon leaving Noatak Shores. Sakari learned quickly that bad luck, evil spirits and omens were virtually nonexistent in the real world. She became resentful of the way her family treated her, indoctrinating her to believe in the utter nonsense that allowed everyone to mistreat her. She enters the Teekon Wilds with a heavy chip on her shoulder, vowing to only look out for number one, and to never again allow loyalty or love the power to hurt her.
