Appearance
A large, stocky wolf of iridescent grey and rust. Clumps of matted fur on his lower chest and hooded golden eyes betray a placid, lackadaisical presence on first impression.
Personality
From the lightly matted fur on his chest to the ever-placid expression on his face, it is abundantly clear from first glance that Arrow is a lackadaisical wolf whom tries to coast through life on a breeze. He is unambitious, prefering to go with the flow of his "breeze" and never wanting for more than what can be found a few pawsteps from the moment. More than just relaxed, he can come across as lazy, but in fact, that book-cover assumption in not entirely incorrect, in both action and mind. In actuality, Arrowroot is exceptionally intelligent, having gained his sharp, observational mind from his mother; he simply prefers not thinking to hard about difficult things. As a whole, he dislikes complexity and avoids hard decisions, conflict, and dealing with problems like the plague, ignoring and putting them off until the last possible moment. As a result of this, he's somewhat of a "white liar," innocent little untruths flicking smoothly from his tongue when needed to diffuse or avoid said conflict.
Socially, Arrow is an extrovert. His relaxed, "chill" demeanour, apparent confidence, and humour make him easy to get along with and quick to forge friendships. Just hope things stay light and easy, because your relationship conflicts aren't getting resolved any time soon, and if it becomes too hard? He'll be gone, off to start anew away from his past troubles... Again. Yes, this wolf will most likely run when things get too tough. The closer the bond with others, the more likely he is to try and stick it out longer, but his flight is inevitable. Internally a loyal wolf, the desire to avoid pain is a conflict he will struggle with every time he abandons another.
But it's best not to think about it, right?
Biography
Named after one of his mother-medic's herbs, Arrow was raised in as joyous a single home as his ever-saddened dam could manage. His siblings had long passed before they'd taken their first breath, but he'd never missed them, for how could one miss someone they'd never known? Without concern for loneliness nor wish for the companionship of peers, he had Mother, and Mother was the world.
He spent his childhood trying to make her smile, or laugh - often she'd humour him, but even a pup without the known complexity of the world could tell her heart bared a hole that caged her from true joy. Still, he could hardly say he was unloved, for Mother, no matter how large he grew, would wrap her paws around him every night, lay him at her chest, and tell him in many different words that he was as much her world as she was his. Words he could feel within the deepest pits of his soul were true; they shone clear in her warm, spring-green eyes.
But a young wolf cannot resist the call of nature, no matter how much they adored their mother. As the dawn broke upon the end of his first year, he knew it was time to face the wilderness on his own.
Upon the news of his dispersal, Mother was at first shocked, then resigned, but supportive. Arrow filled her ears with every sweet sentence he could muster, assuring her of his love and his safety, of promised visits. Just as she had during his puphood, he was humoured that night, and the yearling slumbered, peaceful, with the knowledge that the future was near, and Mother would be alright.
When he awoke, he found she fled to the sea; now lost to him forever. So when he travelled the Beyond and pressed paw to the floor of the Teekon, what chased his trail was the nagging hint that he had driven her there.
And he was determined to forget it the only way he could find how: living a life unbothered.
