backdated a few days, for @Lainie!
There was a small bend in the stream that wasn't locked in winter's icy jaws, due to its fast-moving nature, and Lily sought this out today, hoping to try her hand--er, paw--at some fishing.
Back home, there had been a big lake, and in the spring and summer, when they had trouble bringing down any big game, her family had happily feasted on the trout within. Lily herself wasn't the most skilled fisher, but she remembered everything her mother, who was originally from the coast, had taught her. Be still and patient!
The slim dark-pelted girl sat on the edge of the water now, looking down into the water with expectant eyes. She was disappointed so far, for no sleek bodies or beady eyes had appeared in its depths, but she hoped that, with time, one would emerge. Hopefully more.
It was a nice day, if a bit cold, and though she enjoyed the company of her new packmates, it was nice to have some alone time. Solitude with her own thoughts, to mull over everything she had experienced over the past moon--god, had it been that long already?

The girl paced through the winterscape, occasionally sliding this way or that when her paws did not quite grip the slick snow's crust. She was used to being alone, surely, but this group felt different; somehow. Lennon, Alarian and the pale girl seemed to share a strong bond, while the red-faced girl that was at once stunning and entirely intimidating. Then there was Lily, and while it would have been hard for her many glances to have gone unnoticed, she doubted the interest was mutual. Quite simply, she felt like the odd one out, the add-on. And while they had been welcoming, Lainie didn't quite feel that she fit. They were happy and serene and close and she was -
She didn't quite notice the ice until her forepaws punched through it, and a loud, automatic shit rent the stillness. Nor did she notice Lily until she awkwardly tried to pull herself free, punching through more of the ice in the process until she ended up a little further downstream, drenched and clearly in the line of sight of the dark girl. She blinked, freezing where she was and uttering a soft oh no, not daring to look back at the awful mess she'd made of the ice (and likely the girl's fishing venture).

A muffled curse and splashing caught her attention, and her eyes landed on a drenched Lainie, standing in the freezing water. Eyes narrowed in puzzlement, Lily tilted her head, gazing at the girl for some time before speaking. "All right, there?" Her voice was gentle but confused.
She hadn't much talked to Alarian's pretty niece, though her glances--as Lainie suspected--had not gone unnoticed. Lily was so hung up on Lennon that she noticed little else, but she had noticed the girl's extra attention to her in particular. She had mulled the situation over for a while, and didn't think she felt the same way--but perhaps only time would tell.
"It's freezing out!" Lily called after another beat of silence. "Being soaking wet certainly won't help." She took a couple tentative steps into the stream, the icy water swirling round her ankles, wondering if she should do more to help.
