All Welcome
It hadn't been a good day for her usual foraging. Haedwig had hoped to find roots, but instead she found harsh winds and ice. Snow had been light with the beginning of winter, but rainfall was common and froze over in the night.

Pushing through, she had begun to make her way back to her den. Grumbling under her breath Haedwig lost her footing, slipping on icy rock and landing on her hip. The following hiss and groan was only natural, but she found that she could not bring herself to stand.

Her body ached and felt tired, her legs shook, and suddenly her usually sour face was painted with horror. Maybe it was just the way the wind whistled today, but something felt deeply wrong.

It was the whistling of the wind that brought Katmai to this level, where he knew that Haedwig was most likely to haunt. He did not find her right away, but soon came upon a trail to follow. The cold was uncomfortable even for him — not that he was unable to weather it, but it reminded him of less certain times. A granule of worry sparked in his chest, but he told himself he was only being superstitious.

Her great, lumbering form soon materialized, pale beige and dingey white against an even more dreary background.

"Haedwig," he said in greeting, picking up his pace only a fraction. But as he took in the sight of her in earnest, he sped up even more. Something was wrong — and he skidded himself as he tried to slow himself, reaching her side. It was only quick reflexes and a flex of his claws that stopped him short of bowling into her.

"Are you alright?" he asked, feeling silly for even asking such a question, but having no idea what to do for her.

Someone had come for her, but Haedwig was staring straight through them. Stone walls were closing in, wind crying to her of something dire. What the banshees wanted her to know, she couldn't yet understand.

Mumbling something indiscernable, Haedwig made an attempt to make it back to her feet. Her paws stumbled, and she didn't move an inch forward.

She wanted to go back to her den, she didn't want to be here anymore. She wasn't ready for it to find her again.

Katmai didn't know what to do for her. He lifted his head to call for @Alaric, the healer he had the utmost faith in. Although Kinusi was his partner, and he thought her quite capable, he knew that her father had far more experience — as well as strange magicks on his side.

"It's alright, Haaedwig," he told her, not knowing whether or not he was lying to her. He wriggled closer as if for warmth, still trying to keep her on stable ground even as he began to feel wary of her teeth.

Alaric approached at the call. And thought he did want to get closer he knew this witch to be a be a bit crotchety. So he stayed back respectfully and perked his ears forward. She looked in pain and also a bit catatonic. he was unsure what had happened.

He looked to Katmai for an explanation. Hello Katmai, Haedwig?

It was going to rain again soon.

A crow cawed somewhere close by, the first noise Haedwig responded to; a turn of her head, something like fear in her eyes.

She wasn't ready, not yet. She had left that behind.
