Mae had been trailing @Akavir, ready to draw up alongside him — until she caught the scent of a woman she didn't know. Of course it was a woman.

A sour expression lingered on her face as she drifted away, heading back toward where she'd left @Cygnet. Or — trying to. There were too many scents here. Mae's tracking skills had certainly improved since the loss of her vision, but even so, she struggled to catch Cygnet's scent among the others.

Ajei bustled about doing her very best to meet and greet. Gather items and furs. It was with surprise and then worry she caught sight of a wolf with a blindness.

She lay her ears to her skull, but then moved forward. Umm hello. I'm Ajei. Are ou having a good time?

Her voice as always kind. Her paws making delicate movements in the dirt.

Having given Akavir the most audible eye roll she could manage, Cygnet left the man feeling that his behaviour might be corrected, and made her way through the mingling wolves (often walking straight through a few mid-conversation) back toward the Swiftcurrent camp where she had last seen Mae. After all, if Akavir was on the prowl, then she was likely bored out of her mind, or so Cygnet thought.

Mae wasn’t alone- or she wouldn’t be, gauging by the direction of the young woman who approached her. She saw the woman’s ears flick back, and a look of what Cygnet assumed was pity came to her face- one that Mae wouldn’t be able to see.

Don’t look at her like that. She criticized, as she moved to Mae’s side.

Aye! Came a call, as the teenager came trotting up to the trio, hair all bristled up and taking place at Ajei's side in the same manner the pale girl had to the blind woman. An' 'ows about you dun talk to 'er like dat, hmmm?

There was a whole lot of wolves here, most which Shadess didn't know outside of her own pack she had traveled with. Yet Ajei was familiar to her, had seen and smelt her, known her as a friend of her elder sister, @Sobeille. So that meant she was one of Shadess' own, too, by default. Besides, redheads needed go stick together! They even both had green eyes too!

Pawsteps; an unfamiliar scent abruptly surrounded Mae, who wrinkled her nose a little in automatic reaction. A stranger. Her own ears laid against her skull as she listened to the question, the quiet shuffling of the other girl's feet, the familiar steps of her sister approaching and —

Cygnet's presence brought a shift to Mae's posture. She stood a little taller, shadowy fur mingling with the pale mist of her packmate. Don't look at her like that. Before Mae could add her own scathing remark to the mix, a high youthful voice cut in; some snot-nosed kid who couldn't mind her own business. She scowled openly this time, turning a glare toward the mouthy child.

Get the fuck outta here, shitling. This is an adult conversation.

Even if you're a fake ass bitch, Mae added in the older girl's general direction. No offense.

Ajei's eyes went wide in her head first at the girl Cygnet and then the one who came to her rescue. She felt her body shift completely backward. So cruel and then the words that came out of the blind girls mouth.

Her eyes narrowed and she dug deeply for some of the strength her mother had. I beg your pardon! I was simply asking her if she was having fun. I did not look at her in any type of way. You shouldn't assume such terrible things.

And then it spiraled. As the other one spoke and she shifted. She wanted to cry. She looked over to the girl Shadess. She had seen her at the cliffs.

Her tail was low. Her paws were shaking. She wanted to shrink. But she dug deeply for one last ounce of control.

That is such foul language. It is not how one should act. Specifically in front of one of the village hosts of this hunt. I will be sure to speak to both Rodyn and Kukutux of your absolutely appalling behavior.

She shuddered. Come along Shadess. We have other wolves to meet who are hopefully both kinder and friendlier.

Cygnet’s glare snapped to the deep, blood red youth who came to the why woman’s defence, and held her in a steady stare. She snorted at Mae’s retort, a light cackle buried deep within her throat. Good one, she thought, though her eyes were the only part of her face that showed any form of amusement.

The one who smelled of mountain air and evergreen came to dispute the remark entirely, and Cygnet simply huffed. You look at her with pity. I saw it. She stated simply, with a shrug of her shoulder. Her defensiveness practically screamed guilt, and while Cygnet was the only true witness, she would stand by her observation.

She could sense the anxiety spiking higher and higher within the young woman who had even less composure than the young one, who smelled practically pickled with ocean salt. She glanced to the younger wolf with one eyebrow raised to see what she made of the hysterics.

Shadess, was her name- known, obviously to the wolf who couldn’t handle a simple correction. She was going to tell her parents? Let her. If Cygnet was asked of her involvement in the tiff, she’d maintain her point.

Go tell them. Tell them you discriminate, too. Bye, She said with a shrug- hoping they’d go, and leave them be.

Very quickly did things go further south, of course, Shadess fault there most likely, but she didn't seem to give a damn. They were being assholes, obviously so with how badly their paranoia of their own selves had shrunk Ajei into a heap of glassy eyes and shakes.

It enraged the little sea harpy. Blind or not, act like a bitch, get hit like a bitch. She jerks forward with a snap. Don't need to be an adult to know your a rude cu- Caught off by Ajei's words, Shadess shuts her trap to hear her out. Eep! Sounds like the party was over. Shadess huffs heavily, green eyes like acidic daggers at the other pair but listening to her superior nonetheless and trots off there after her.
