She had wanted water when her and Amekaze had parted, so water she had sought. She found one of Moonspear's streams, the cool mountain water had hit her gullet like ambrosia. She'd been drinking from puddles and ponds for too long, she realized she'd forgotten what decent water taste like. She had found streams on her travels of course, but lately she'd been hoping from ponds to puddles. Perhaps she'd just been unlucky in her travels. She moved into the stream a little, cooling her pads on the cool rocks. She sighed contentedly, considering simply laying in the stream itself. A bright flash caught her now half-lidded eye and she straightened herself. It hadn't been terribly long since she'd eaten last, but she wouldn't say no to a morsel.
Fishing had kept her fed a few nights, though she was admittedly better at chasing a hair than a salmon. She kept her body still, staring pointedly into the water. There were two or three medium size fish swimming lazily to and fro. This area of the stream was slow enough to allow them to meander. She waited until they grew closer, completely focused on her task. At last, when they were close enough that she could have swatted them with a paw, she pounced. She snapped on empty water and came up sneezing, she shook her head and sent droplets flying. The fish had fled her now, the movement more than enough to make them seek safer swimming. She raised a foreleg to rub her nose, having bumped it on the rocky bottom of the streambed.
Rather than continue her failed fishing antics, she bent to get another drink and then removed herself from the cool water. She bound a place beneath a shrub nearby, the shade protecting her from the hot sun. She would rest here for a time, until the heat of midday had passed. She lay herself down but kept her head up. She didn't want to be caught unawares by packmates she hadn't met yet. She pant contentedly for a moment, her lids slowly lowering over hazel eyes. Her panting stopped after a moment and she rest, half-awake in the shade.

if it's not okay that Charon saw the fishing endeavour, please let me know and i can adjust this post. :)
It was a rubbish time to become part of a pack, because not only was there little food to spare, expectations were high on pulling one's own weight.
It was from a distance that Charon watched one of the pack's latest recruits fish in the stream, expectations sky rocketting for if Ame or Flóki had let in another wolf in these circumstances, they'd better be damned good. Disappointment didn't leave him waiting for very long and he snorted as he watched her bump her nose on the rocky bottom. She reminded him of Dhole, then, as he remembered how she'd always been a useless klutz and he could make fun of her for it. If she was Dhole, he'd have dashed right down the mountainside and would've pushed her in the water. Rematch for that time he could've pushed Dhole in but it'd been too cold for a swim.
A bitter taste was left in his mouth when he moved down and towards her, thoughts of Dhole swirling through his mind. She probably didn't even ever think of him anymore. The insolent little bitch. Fuck her. He didn't need her.
More snarky than intended Charon greeted the new female — "Hello." There was an annoyed expression on the Alpha's face as he approached her as she lay in the shade, unaware that he might startle her.
No it's fine! :) Let me know if I should change her seeing his posture as alpha, if you'd like a little confusion! Seeing as he's upset I thought he might be acting dominant.
She wasn't aware that another had seen her failure, nor was she aware that it happened to be Amekaze's counterpart, Charon. The realization would likely turn her scarlet under her fur, and send her stomach plummeting. She hated bad impressions. She was only resting for a moment when a sharp voice split the air like a whip. She did not jump, to her credit, but she snapped her eyes open and felt the hair on her spine ripple in surprise. It didn't raise, thankfully, but the tremor traveled down to her tail as a pure shot of adrenaline. Her heart did a tap dance against her ribs and she stared with open surprise at the male.
The annoyed expression was not missed, which only confused her more. Was she laying somewhere she shouldn't? Uncomfortable, she rose to her paws and turned to face the other fully. She took him in quickly, looking for rank. He held himself high, beta or alpha perhaps. She lowered her head respectfully, glancing at him nervously. "Uhm...He-Hello there. I didn't hear you approaching." Had he meant to sneak up on her? "My name is Pyx, I'm new, but I'm sure you knew that. Amekaze welcomed me into Moonspear." She hoped he hadn't seen her fishing disaster. She wasn't a horrible hunter, but fishing was something she definitely could stand to work on. Fish had not been overly plentiful in the streams near her old home. She offered a smile, keeping her eyes from meeting his in a respectful manner. If he was irritated, she certainly didn't want to push him over the edge.

that's fine too ^^
She seemed caught unawares, which Charon sort of liked. He was in a foul mood after being reminded of Dhole, and seeing others suffer in any way, but emotional ways most of all, made him feel better about himself. Without realising it he had puffed himself up even beyond his normal posturing to declare his rank, and once he realised this he relaxed somewhat, though tail remained curled over his back and head tall and proud.
There was a cut along the right side of his face that still smarted, a scab grown across it that was visible when he turned his face, and his head was pounding after the missed prey opportunity. After Pyx' introduction Charon said, a little less impatient than before but still with a gruffness to his voice (caused mostly by the headaches), "I'm Charon Ostrega. Ame is my mate." There was a brief silence between them that some might consider uncomfortable, but he barely registered it through the headaches.
"I take it normally you're better at actually catching the fish?" he asked, sounding more unkind than he had intended. He just wanted to mock her, for old time's sake or whatever, but it ended up coming out more like an insult than he had intended.
All that fucking Dhole's fault.
Though the male seemed to relax slightly, he kept his head and tail high. His face was newly marked, a scab-covered wound running down the side of his face from some injury. It only served to make him more intimidating as Pyx was left to guess where it had come from. His tone wasn't quite as whiplike when he introduced himself, explaining that he was indeed the mate that Amekaze had mentioned. It puzzled Pyx, that such a kind and logical female had found a partner in such a gruff and intimidating male. Perhaps she was catching him at a bad time, she thought, wanting to give him the benefit of the doubt. The personality she saw here did not seem to be one that would mesh well with Amekaze's, but attraction was a strange thing. Perhaps they were attracted by the opposite they saw in each other? She didn't and couldn't know.
A brief silence fell over them, and Pyx did find it uncomfortable. Not because of the silence itself, but more because of the still intimidating nature of the male before her. She wasn't sure how to behave, and cautious seemed the best choice. "It's nice to meet you, Charon. Your lands have been beautiful and I am honored to be apart of them." She said, not stuttering or stumbling, but still rushing her words slightly. After a moment he questioned her about her fishing endeavors and her eyes widened, embarrassment flashing through the hazel. She grimaced, shaking her head slightly from side to side. "Oh...you uh...you saw that?" She winced at the image she must have been, rising from the water shaking and sneezing. "Normally, yes. I am better. Fishing isn't my strongest suit, though, I won't lie. I'm better at hunting ground animals that those of the water. Though...I did manage to catch that rock, direct hit in fact." It was a small joke meant to break tension. She glanced to him with a tentative smile, wondering how he would receive it.
Before he'd really been given a chance to respond she leapt forward with more words, suddenly embarrassed at her joke. "So...are you...are you alright? That is, I mean, your cut looks like it hurts. Has...has the medic treated it for you?" She swallowed thickly as she bumbled through the conversation further. She might as well have asked 'whats wrong with your face?' as awkward as that had been to stumble through.

Charon's posture relaxed somewhat when she complimented his pack, his hackles falling flat and tail lowering to a more neutral, less threatening height. She then proceeded to stumble over her words in regards to the fishing matter, another thing he liked. He felt in control and it was good to have some wolves in the pack that respected him; he wasn't so sure about all of them by a long shot. Then again, he'd thought the same of Dhole.
"Good, fish tastes like shit compared to real meat anyway," he said gruffly when she admitted that she was better at hunting ground animals than fish anyway. He shrugged at her joke and dryly answered, "You look pretty healthy for someone who lives off rocks." But there was a glint in his eyes that showed that he was enjoying this little show-down in some way and that his words were not as dry and dark as they came.
Then she began to speak of his face, a subject he wasn't too keen on. He frowned grimly again and said, "We don't have a lot of medics. I've had worse, it will heal." The scars that littered his shoulder were a testimony of that — this was nothing comparatively. It just hurt, though not as much as the constant headaches.

It seemed as they talked he was relaxing more. She began to wonder if the gruffness he displayed was not intended as hostile as it sounded. She began to relax slightly in return, assuming that he wasn't about to leap on her and tear her a new one. He seemed to approve of her submissive posture though, so while she relaxed her tail she kept her head lowered. His bluntness surprised her, but she couldn't help but agree. Fish was not her favorite either. She said as much, brushing away her surprise. "You have a point. Fish has never been my favorite, which might also be a reason I'm not as good at catching it."
She nodded, smiling slightly at his response to her joke. "I only pick the plumpest rocks, you see. Only ones from rivers, too." Her mention to his face made him frown and she herself mirrored the expression unconsciously. The pack didn't have many medics, perhaps she could learn more and hone her own skills? She knew a baseline, having been taught by her old pack. They'd thought it wise that all pups be well versed in the different opportunities for ranks and jobs. From scouting to hunting, they'd been trained in a little of everything. Pyx herself had taken a shine to medicine, liking not only the caring aspect of it, but the herbology involved. It was fascinating to her what different plants could do when handled differently.
He was right that he had many scars across his body, testament to many fights. Yet this one was so new and drew the eyes. It looked painful, but it might possibly make for an intimidating scar if he wished it. She dipped her head in response to his words, nodding slightly. "I'm sorry, for mentioning it and for the medic situation. I know a little of herbology and medicine...perhaps I could help around the pack?" It was an indirect offer to assist him as well, here and now if he needed it but his easy dismissal made her worried of offending his pride if she questioned again. "I'd be happy to train more and learn, to better serve Moonspear."

It was good to hear that Pyx actually had an interest in learning to be a medic. Charon knew there were others that dabbled in it but he had no idea if any of them were actually good. He knew too little about medicine for that. He wasn't really sure what its added value was, truth to be told; Charon's wounds had always healed, even without herbs. Most notable was the time he had spent on the Sunspire with Amekaze, when they had forged their plans for Moonspear; he thought he would die that time, but he had survived in the end.
"What do herbs do, anyway?" he suddenly asked, lost in thoughts regarding medicine and how he hadn't had any treatment on his earlier wounds; at least not the worst of them. "I've only ever seen my... caretaker use it, mostly on others though." He wasn't sure how else to regard Thistle — 'adoptive' always seemed like a strange word and his mother was, well, someone else, even if he hadn't known her for long — so awkwardly used 'caretaker' in the end. He felt sceptical, but the fact Thistle had been good with herbs spoke for their use. Maybe Pyx could explain what their real use was.

It seemed she had finally found something to intrigue him. His next words were not cutting with sarcasm or wit, but simply curiosity. For a moment he seemed to be thinking, then finally he spoke a simple question. He was serious, she realized, not trying to undermine what she had said. She wasn't sure how to answer. What do herbs do anyway? They did so many things, it was hard to say what all they did. It was like asking what the rain did. There were so many things she could touch upon and she considered her words carefully. She wasn't sure what he meant by caretaker, but given his earlier irritability she thought it better to ask later.
"They can do many things. They can help to heal a wound faster, with less pain. They can help to keep it clean, prevent infection. Some can simply help with pains, joint ache in older wolves, labor pains for females, headaches, pain from wounds. A wolf can be brought from the brink of death depending on the skill of the medic. In my old pack, a female's milk had stopped when her pups were still young. The medic found a herb to help bring it back. Her children survived, fat and happy as ever. A strong pack full of capable warriors could survive without a dedicated medic, as your and Amekaze's has. A medic simply adds security and is there for when things are very grim. Some things are simple comforts, some are life-saving in the right circumstances." Her mind moved to the famine and she spit forth an example.
"There are some herbs that can be eaten to stave off hunger, such as in times of famine. It wouldn't have...helped you to be well fed, but it might have made you feel good enough to hunt more, or travel more or whatever needed doing." Her eyes were bright as she discussed medicine and herbs, truly loving the subject. "There are many more things herbs can do, help with fever, cough, hair loss even! It can do things I have not yet learned of. It is truly a fascinating and ever changing subject...well, to certain wolves...like me." She ended with a shrug, trying to reign herself in.

Charon wasn't sure what sort of reply he had expected, but it certainly hadn't been this one. She started to speak about herbs and it felt like she just wouldn't stop, going on for ever and ever. He tried his hardest not to look bored, but it was growing harder and harder and her story had so many little details he was sure he'd forget right after.
He mentally noted himself never to ask another wolf about the uses of herbs again and said, "Geez, I didn't ask for your life story," when she finally stopped talking. Realising he might've come off a bit harsh, he added: "I guess I'll just stick to keeping well-informed wolves like yourself around rather than learn it all myself." His tone was friendlier then, and he wondered after speaking if he was getting soft. Without thinking he'd added the words, where when he was younger he might've just brashly insulted her some more. It made him feel strange and out of his comfort zone, but he quickly hid any such feelings away.

She was prone to rambling where herbs and healing were concerned. She knew this was a flaw of hers and as Charon commented on it she realized she'd blabbered more than any normal wolf would want to hear. Her ears flicked back and she dipped her head apologetically. Yet right after he seemed to realize his harshness and attempt to temper it. She nodded, and then apologized all the same. "I'm sorry. Herbs and healing are my passion, I...can get caught in tangents when it's brought into conversation. And I'm long winded by nature. I'll try to control it."
Silence began to settle again, but before it fully covered them she spoke. "What are your passions, Charon? Other than Amekaze, of course." She chuckled at her joke, but did not miss that he smelled strongly of his mate. It was likely her season had come, or else they'd simply been infatuated with each other as they wait for it. "Do you pursue any trades yourself?"

She apologised, and Charon nodded, feeling weird, as if he was the one who'd just apologised. He pushed it aside, however, unwanting to confront himself with his feelings of inner turmoil over insulting some wolf. Perhaps it was the weight of all those he had lost by his side — Levi, Liyani, Atreyu, Jorunn, Kaylan, Ragna, even his adoptive mother — to the great unknown, here one day and gone the next. Perhaps he wanted to cling to her because he was afraid it was his selfishness that'd driven Dhole away. What a foolish thought! She had left because of what that asshat Goober had done to her, she had left because she was ungrateful and selfish, because she was a runner, fleeing whenever she couldn't handle the situation rather than accepting the help of her friends.
He wondered what sort Pyx was. He wondered if she'd ever be as good a friend as Dhole, after he'd insult her a bunch more times.
He wondered if she was a runner, too.
But before he could further ponder it or outright ask her she answered his question. "What?" He bliked dumbly and then was quick to correct himself. "Oh — right — I enjoy watching the stars. I never feel alone when they're with me." That sounded sort of corny, but it was true nevertheless. He didn't really know any other passions, though after a short thought he added: "I like the ocean, too. And watching beautiful scenery." Now he was starting to sound like a big fruit, but the words were out of his gullet before he could fancy them up.

He seemed to enjoy the silences, as far as she could tell. She wasn't yet comfortable enough with him to enjoy them too. There was a deep seated desire to be liked by the alpha, to impress them and let them know you were worthy. Pyx was not immune to this, of course, and it would likely please the male to know so. He blinked at her as the question left her mouth and for a moment she wondered if perhaps she shouldn't have joked about Amekaze. Soon though the stupor cleared and he responded.
His answer was soft than she expected, and she was surprised though she didn't show it. His harsher demeanor would have made her first think he'd like battling or hunting. She found it endearing, his interests, and thought that perhaps with time the harshness would fade. Or, it'd just become clear jokes. He spoke of stars, scenery and the ocean. She nodded, waving her tail a time or two. "You'll have to tell me what you know of the stars sometime. Or perhaps you can point out the best places to star-gaze." The ocean she'd always found a little daunting. It was so vast and deep, she imagined there were creatures the size of Moonspear itself lurking under there. It nearly made her shiver just thinking about it. "Moonspear seems full of views and beautiful scenery." She glanced towards the stream again, admiring the peacefulness of it.
"Would you mind to tell me about yourself? Or Amekaze? Or the pack itself. I'm new and clueless, of the history of Moonspear. I'd listen to any tale you'd like to tell."

If she did think him a big fruit, she sure wasn't showing it. Her reactions seemed normal as far as he could tell. Charon nodded as she said he should teach her of the stars sometime. He never minded stargazing or explaining things to anyone (even if he was a rather impatient teacher) when it came to the stars. "There's a lot of great viewpoints on the mountain," he agreed when she mentioned that Moonspear probably had lots of good lookout points for scenery going for it.
Then she turned the subject around again and asked a very unspecific question. She mentioned a variety of subjects that he could choose from free range, something that annoyed Charon a little — how could he give her anything if she didn't even know what she wanted? — but he ignored the irritation that bubbled up and pushed it away. His face showed a moment of irritation, but he did not voice it. "I was born in Stavanger Bay, to the north of here. I became Beta of it at nine months. Nearly a year ago now I got into a fight near the Sunspire, to the east, and was found by Amekaze, who was its Alpha at the time. Both our packs were too small to survive the upcoming winter, so we banded our packs together." That had to be an interesting story for sure — he always liked telling it, too, because it made him look like a hero for saving both their packs from starvation that winter.

She wasn't exactly sure she was getting all his quirks yet. He'd seemed happy enough to talk about his trades, but questioning as she had a moment ago sent a flicker of upset across his face. She wondered over this, thinking that perhaps she'd been being too nosy, or too long winded. She decided to try and be less so with Charon, about herbs or not, but knew it would be difficult. She'd been so long without company, she was eager for connection.
She'd not been to his birthplace, and knew nothing about it, but seeing as it was a bay she decided she'd probably stay clear. No wonder he liked the ocean though, he'd likely had a good view growing up. Perhaps if she'd had more experience with it she'd be more fond of it herself. She was impressed at his early rise to beta and it displayed on her face. Wolves in her packs were considered for higher ranks until they were close to two. Her ears perked as he mentioned Amekaze and she smiled at the meeting story. "How interesting! That was smart of both of you, to come together like that." She considered asking her next question, but decided if she kept it short it should be okay.
"Did you fall for each other by surprise? Or did you arrange it that day?" She meant of course their mating, or partnership, whichever they preferred to call it. Her face bore nothing but interest, wondering if they had bargained to provide pups to each other to help improve pack numbers. She thought it'd be a sweeter story if they'd simply fallen in love as a result of coming together...but of course life doesn't always work out in the "sweet" ways. Either way it would be a nice story, a story of selflessness for the good of the pack.

Her amazement at his early rise to Beta did not go unnoted. Charon was a vain creature and he enjoyed being in the spotlights. He was proud of the things he had accomplished in his life, but they meant little without others acknowledging how great he was too. He had a good feeling about Pyx. Many wolves left, but he hoped that she would stay and become as sturdy a part of their core as Amekaze and Flóki in due time.
The words she spoke only added on to his pride and he nodded, a confident smile on his face. Then she asked after their mateship. A very forward question, but he sort of liked that. She was a shy little mouse, or seemed so at first when he'd pointed out her flaws, but she was not afraid to ask difficult questions either.
Yet it wasn't really a question with an easy answer. He considered for a moment before he answered, "I guess a part of me knew we would end up when we decided to become Alphas together, 'cause that's just how it goes, y'know? But it just sort of happened when we officially became mates. It wasn't really arranged or anything." Maybe in a way it had been because they both knew the implications of being an Alpha pair the day they agreed to be that, but still, their official mateship had taken a long time after that.

At her praise a confident smile rose to his face and she returned the gesture with a smaller one of her own. His answer about Amekaze and his mateship wasn't truly either direction. She had only suggested they had arranged it that day because two separate alphas would be harder than two bound in a mateship. Through mating they could truly come together, literally and figuratively, and it wouldn't seem so much like competing forces but one combined force. She'd never had such an agreement in her pack, nor had she seen one before. The idea was a good one though, if it was done well.
She nodded, it was a logical jump when a male and female alpha joined their packs, that they too might join. A kind of mutual thank you by helping the other to make pups and make the pack stronger. It was a simple way to ensure their loyalty to each other. She was pleased to hear, though, that it had been a surprise when it happened. She was a romantic wolf, however much she tried to deny it. "That's very sweet. It must have been hard for the both of you, at first. Coming together. I've known alphas who would have failed in a heartbeat," She remembered to try to be less long-winded. "It speaks well of both of you, but you don't need me to tell you that I'm sure."
"Is the pack fairly new then? Was it this past winter?" She thought it might be, but wanted to be sure.

"Not really," he answered earnestly. It had actually been really easy from the beginning. There was a short of bond between them. Ame had made Charon feel at peace and in ways he had done the same for her. It had always been easy, always been good to be by her side and decisions they had made together had always been agreed on by the other. Thinking about it, it was as though they had been destined to be together from the very beginning.
He had already disclosed the information she then asked about, but he shared it again anyway: "Yes. The pack was founded a little under a year ago. Hardly new now, though..." It was half a lifetime for him, since he stood at a year and a half of age now.

His answer that it hadn't really been difficult for either of them made her smile. "Well, perhaps the two of you were simply meant to be. It's a wonderful story, though. Her saving you, the pair of you saving your packs...and then falling in love. It'll be a story your children will love to hear, I'm sure." It would have been easy for such a union to have fallen apart had the two alphas butted heads or felt competitive of each other.
She had missed that he'd already told her when the pack had formed, but he answered her anyway. "Almost a year! Congratulations, to both you and Amekaze. May there be many more to follow the first." Packs could come and go, they were fluid and ever changing. To last a year was no small achievement. She hoped in time her name would be one of the few that was synonymous with Moonspear. She was a loyal wolf and had high hopes for her involvement here, perhaps one day she'd wear the title of Medic, have a family of her own.

"Yeah, it is," Charon said, his confident smile growing; he loved being complimented and so he could not wipe the smile off his face as she went on to lavish him and Ame's mateship as well as their pack with compliments. A year was indeed a long time, at least to him. She did not look too old herself, so probably the same went for her too.
"Thank you," he said to her, and then a silence fell between them, for he wasn't really sure what else to talk about. Maybe there was something else she wanted to hear about, but surely she'd ask him herself if she wanted to hear it. As a kid he might've gone blabbering on about things, especially after having found a victim willing to hear him out, but he was curious now to see if she would grow uncomfortable again in the silence and eager to find out what she would ask next.

This silence that fell was much more comfortable than the first, yet as they sat she felt herself yearning to fill it. She thought for a moment, the silence filled only by the babbling of the water behind them. The scene here was serene, at odds with the multiple small tragedies and dramas that would soon be occurring within Moonspear. A question struck her and spoke it, less about him but more general information. "If I were to find a wolf on the border, seeking to join, what is the protocol? My old pack required acceptance by beta or alpha to be permitted within the borders. Is it the same here?"
She waited for his answer and was tempted to ask him of his scars, now that they'd talked for a moment, for he had many. Her eyes moved over them for a moment, from his face to his shoulder. She hadn't meant to look them over so openly, but one had lead to others. Could a healer have closed these wounds and left him without scarring? Were they something he liked or hated? He'd seemed to like questions about himself and so she decided she would risk it, after he finished her first question of course.
"Excuse me if it's rude to ask, but...your scarring. Are they from a single battle, or many?" She wasn't being outright manipulative by asking, it wasn't a thought that crossed her mind in any direct way. She did know he liked to talk about himself though, seemed happy when he did. So she had searched, and had landed on his scars. Her question was sincere, though she was likely asking from a different position that Charon might like to think. She wanted to know about their creation for reasons concerned with healing, not the victory or loss of her leader. She was smart enough not to say that though, she knew she was the only one so obsessed with herbs. Of course scars would be telling of his history though, things that might benefit her to know should an enemy come knocking.

She asked for joining protocol and he was surprised by it. He wondered if she was expecting anyone, or if she was simply one of those annoying types of wolves who wanted to know everything about anything they needed to do, just in case they'd need the info. He guessed the latter, 'cause so far she was showing signs of that a lot. He answered: "Yes, if there's ever any joiners, you'll need myself, Amekaze or Flóki to give the go sign." And he couldn't help but add: "Why, expecting anyone?" He grinned, though truthfully his question wasn't out of interest, but mostly out of curiosity which type of wolf she really was.
Then she asked about his scars, and he was taken aback a bit by it, because he hadn't expected it. For someone who was kind of a weakling she was pretty confident in asking rude questions. He didn't mind the questions much, though, for Charon had been boastful from youth. He used to think scars were 'cool', but as he gathered them along the way his thoughts had changed. "Most of them are from the fight I got in before I properly met Amekaze, when she still lived in her old pack. Apart from that..." He thought of Nishu Inte, but he'd only really chipped his ear in the end; the other damage had been negated. "Some small scuffles, but nothing as big as that fight." He didn't feel he needed to go into details. If she'd ask, maybe.

Though she didn't know his thoughts, she was most certainly one of those annoying types. At least, at first. She was anxious not to create waves, not to disrupt the normal flow. Once she was more confident in herself in this pack and this area she would likely be less so annoying...but not by much. She loved information, loved knowing things. Not to lord it over anyone, but to know that she knew it. Knowing things made her feel confident, which was something she often lacked.
She nodded, having expected his answer. His question caught her off guard, however. Perhaps the question had seemed suspicious to him. "Oh...no. Just curious, in case I met anyone on the border." As they moved on to his scars, she was disappointed he didn't go into greater detail. She of course, wanted to evaluate them from a healing standpoint, which had been claw versus tooth. She wouldn't press him for details though, if he didn't say it outright she didn't feel right nudging him along.
Again her head bobbed up and down, and she stilled it for fear of looking like a bird. "You wear them well. They're intimidating, honestly, at least I thought they were. Not exactly a bad thing for an alpha to have though." She paused for a moment, glancing back toward the creek, after a moment her eyes returned to him. "Is there anything you want to know about me?"

irl i'm just like pyx, haha, always asking irrelevant questions of things i might face in the future when new at things :')
"Yeah, I guess," answered Charon when Pyx called his scars intimidating. He once thought scars were cool but nowadays he didn't care much for those sort of things. Perhaps because he remembered the pain that had gone paired with receiving them. Yet he didn't mind being a bit more intimidating, for fear was a great way to control others. He rather be feared than loved, ultimately, but he felt he had the perfect balance between those two things in his pack right now. The core of friends, the rubble that could be intimidated. And for outsiders it would work well, too. Besides, he'd been called a weak yearling who wasn't up to being an Alpha a bit too often to deny that being intimidating was a good thing.
He was surprised by her question if he wanted to know anything from her. He didn't have any direct questions, or whatever, so he decided to come up with a weird-ass question instead. "So, if you had to choose... And you have to choose, would you... Rather get screwed by a deer, or... Having to lick a mountain goat's balls?" And he looked inquiringly at her, clearly expecting an honest, thought-through answer on this matter. Well, she had asked.
July 20, 2016, 09:51 PM
Yes, me too. Give me all the answers so I can sit on them happily. But Charon has killed me with that question. XD Pyx is scandalized.
He didn't seem to agree on his scars, but she was mainly unscarred, and it was likely her viewpoint came from that. Scars=battles fought and battles she didn't like. She'd seen fighting before, engaged in practice and tussles. However she had effectively evaded more fights than she had participated in, preferring to only fight as a last resort. Not because she was a especially peaceful, but because she was especially timid and especially unconfident in her fighting. She'd rather be well behind the lines healing.
She waited with perked ears to see if he had any questions for her, ready to spill whatever he asked. He began and she smiled, eyes interested. Ah, was this an activity to probe at her personality? Was he going to gage her response to see what kind of w- Her eyes bulged in surprise, her thoughts stopping instantly. "What?" She sputtered, staring at him with a knitted brow. Screwed by a deer or lick a mountains goat's balls? What on earth kind of question was that? Why would you even think about that? Who would even think about that?
Her disgruntled face hung around for a moment and it became clear he expected an answer. Still not wanting to upset him she swallowed and grimaced. "Uh...well...I...I guess I'd have to go with the ram. I've...I've seen what deer have. I would...I would be gutted, I think." She still wore a face of shock and confusion, as if she couldn't believe she was even rationalizing an answer to this question. "With the ram I...I could at least take the, er, balls with me when I left. If I'm going through the trouble of almost getting kicked in the face, might as well." She blinked rapidly, but was satisfied with her answer. "Uh....and what about you? Which would you rather choose?"
Is this what passed as a game in this pack? What on earth.
