Moonspear just as the four walls close me within, my eyes are opened up with pure sunlight

Forward-dated a tad. Hoping for parent(s) or sib(s)!

Knowledge was one thing, acceptance was another. Scion didn't have much of a choice in the matter, though. It took her a week—not that she could really tell time in this state—to come to terms with her new existence. But by the time her eyelids came unglued and she could behold her brand new environment, she was ready to embrace this second lease on life. Not that she could actually see much yet; everything was terribly blurry.

The memories remained crystal clear, however, and though she was staring fuzzily up at @Charon's face and trying to memorize the details, Scion couldn't help but think of her former father. Where was he? Was he mourning the death of his son? And what about everyone else? Had they blamed Tacoma for Scion's death? Despite her own upset of everything, Scion hoped they would see it for what it was: a tragic accident. Tacoma didn't deserve to be punished.

A little whimper escaped her as she pondered her former brother's fate. Scion blinked and tried to refocus her fuzzy eyes, count the freckles on her new dad's face. You're not my first dad, y'know, she wanted to tell him. All she could do was flail a stubby white limb at him and offer up a gummy, gormless gurgle.

Charon had spent most of his first week as a second-time (well, officially) father standing guard outside of the den or going for a quick hunt or patrol while his daughters took over his place. He'd laid at the entrance of the den but hadn't really gone in, since at this point in life he knew his children were just loud and useless potatoes that he wanted little to do with and who kept him from his sleep.

The fun started when their eyes opened, as it was a foreboding of the communication skills yet to come — so he was happy when that day finally came. He watched one of the little white blobs as it looked at him and flailed a limb at him with a gurgle. After looking at Amekaze to make sure that she wasn't awake and listening in he turned to his daughter and said, "Yes, you're a loud little fucker, aren't you? You must've been taking Alya-lessons — keeping papa awake all throughout the past weeks, tut tut." Then he leaned down towards the pup in order to boop her on the nose.

Ran's first week had been quiet while the smallest of the litter tried to catch up in size to the others, but the past days she had become louder and louder. Ever since she could see, she realised how much the world hurt to be in. The light that filtered in through gooey eyes was overwhelming and she didn't understand the world that she had been thrown into. She had not been moving around much before, but since she could see she had grown curious and had started to squirm around; and then she had realised how much moving hurt.

Barely aware of who was who around her Ran squealed loudly while she wriggled around on the floor and then bumped into one of her siblings, who to her was just a white blob — and then she proceeded to scream some more.

His warm breath washed over her as he spoke, though Scion couldn't hear what he was saying. She grunted in frustration. She had mostly come to terms with the limitations of this new vessel, yet it still wasn't easy being trapped in this useless little blob of a body. You have bad breath! she wanted to tell him, though her toothless gums just gnashed uselessly even as he bent down to boop her.

Meanwhile, something else bumped into her and Scion tried to turn her head, her neck still weak and wobbly. She blinked slowly at the lump of dark fur, trying to make sense of what she was seeing. Oh snap! she thought. (It had been one of Mirai's favorite phrases.) I have a brother! Her heart leaped as Scion bumbled around to face her brother and stick her pugged nose against his.

Charon chuckled as he watched the pup look around in typical dopey pup fashion, but his joy was quickly forgotten when one of the dark ones started to squeal. By the looks of it it was the smallest one, the girl. "Shut up," he grumbled at her, "Or your mama's gonna wake up." He watched as the white girl moved towards its sibling, and all his hope was now onto the girl who could make it or break it. Would she be able to calm her sibling? It was a sad realisation to think he was putting all his hope for quietude onto one of his own babies. All was lost.

Things didn't seem to get much worse, but Ran was momentarily distracted by the touch of another nose to hers. At first she looked startled and withdrew her face, but then curiosity took over and she pressed her stubby nose forward again, gently bopping against her sibling's and then opening her mouth for a gurgle. While opening her mouth Ran found out that she could use it to grab things and she tried wrapping her mouth around her sibling's nose.

One sniff told her that she had a sister rather than a brother. Scion felt a nip of disappointment—she was really going to miss Tacoma and the others, even if her brother had (accidentally!) nuked her—but she quickly got over it. A sister! I hope you're not a bitch like Avalon. Pause. I hope I'm not a bitch like Avalon...

Scion's sister began to gum her nose, which she didn't mind, except that it tickled. She let out a loud squeak and then made a noise that could only be called a purr. She didn't pull free, though her tiny pink tongue emerged to lick at her sibling's softly grizzled chin.

Charon watched as the pups busied themselves with each other, glad that they had quieted down a little now and seemed occupied for the moment. He also quickly looked over the other two pups, but they both seemed to be asleep in a bundle of dark and light fur mixed together by their mother's side. Content with this, Charon continued to watch the more active siblings, though he had to admit that once you'd seen the whole adorable-crawling-around-and-chewing-on-each-other thing once you didn't really need to extensively enjoy it a second time. He was looking forward to the time when this latest batch of pups would be more interactive and he could teach them things and be proud of the things they did. Right now they were still pretty boring.

Ran continued to nibble on her sibling's nose, though it didn't really taste like much of anything. The touch of a tiny tongue to her own chin surprised her and she let go of the nose then and flailed a stubby paw in the direction of the tongue. Then she moved forward a bit and pressed her nose against her sibling's fur at the shoulder, then inhaled the familiar scent, and she felt calm again.

Her sister didn't appear to appreciate the licking very much, considering she punched Scion in the nose. The pale cub gave a small peep of surprise (and indignation), wriggling her nose. What was that for? she thought in her sibling's direction. She had half a mind to swat her right back. But then the dark shape was moving closer. Scion braced herself for another attack, only for her sister to bury her face in her neck in a sort of awkward hug.

Oh... Scion thought, sitting very still. This is all right, I guess. And it was, until something—perhaps one of her sister's whiskers—tickled Scion's tiny, soft ear and caused her to rapidly shake her head and accidentally bonk skulls with the other pup.

Charon watched as the pups performed some sort of wrestling act together, but he was losing interest swiftly. He turned his attention back outwards, feeling tired suddenly, and let out a long yawn. Deciding that the pups were too boring to keep him awake he turned away from them, facing the outside world again to keep the pups and his mate safe.

Ran sniffed her sibling's fur and let out a happy coo. For just a moment the world wasn't that bad, but then out of the blue she received a bonk to the head and flopped over to the side and onto her back. Ran started to scream again, until she was nosed back to her mother's side by her father (after which he turned away again) and found a teat to suckle on, which, for the moment, left Ran quiet and docile again.

Oogh! That hurt. Scion went to rub at the sore spot on her noggin but found her limbs much too short to reach. Oh, right. A rather melodramatic sigh escaped her, mostly siphoning through her nose and making a rude noise like a balloon deflating. But she couldn't hear it, as her tiny, soft ears hadn't opened just yet.

Before she could think of what to do next, her sister was abruptly gone. Scion blinked slowly. Then something grabbed onto the soft skin at the back of her neck and she went limp, her belly swooping, as someone (most likely her new dad) airlifted her back toward the big, black shape of her new mom. There you are! she thought, a smile touching her little pink lips as she was nestled in beside her dark sister.

There were two other shapes here too, she saw with her bleary baby blues. Hi, hello, Scion thought absently in their direction. But soon all conscious thought melted right out of her aching head as she found a nipple in her mouth and suckled herself right into a milk coma.
