Teeth raked the water's surface but hit only water as a small fish tore away. A frustrated growl erupted from the young Alpha's throat, but it did not last very long, for as he turned his gaze from the water and cleared his nostrils, Charon knew instantly that something was different. He licked the water off his lips and stepped out of the river, determination in his step as he moved forward. Nose drifted to the ground momentarily until he caught her trail and continued onwards, driven by nothing but his instincts.

Ears pricked forward, neck arched proudly and tail curled over back as she came into view, more beautiful than ever. The moment was reminiscent of their first union and yet at the same time it was completely different. He exhaled, long and drawn out, as he took her in and admired her beauty. It was a fine Queen that he had been given, and now it was time for something bigger than either of them — heirs to their throne, the great mountain upon which they resided.

Paws carried him forward and Charon moved towards her as though afloat, his body language clear in what he wanted, his instincts raging with longing.
