He frowned at her lack of answer. He didn't want things to be this way. He wanted things to be as they were before. He didn't want to end up like Floki, losing her. Perhaps even losing his mountain.

Charon laughed at the thought Harley would challenge him. Ame said Harley had divulged she had come into season and he nodded. "She has. It turns out that's what he was challenging me for. At first he left, because like you said, she has no right to pups. But later I found their scent lines mingle again so I followed them and found out that he had mated with her." His muzzle wrought into a snarl if distaste, and his lie was suddenly not so far off in his mind. He believed this had happened. He looked at Ame and said, "That is why I came to seek you out. I think... We should remove them. Or at very very least punish them severely for this." He moved a short distance closer, longing for things to be the same as they were. And he felt they could be, if they would remove the sordid specks upon their lives -- make it about the two of them again. He would care for her and her pups, and he loved her, still -- a thing he had ironically only started to realise after another had hurt her by how far he'd go to harm his mate's wrongdoer.
