Charon smiled softly at his daughter's question, although on the inside he felt a little sad thinking of his brother. Floki was long gone, for many, many months now... Charon remembered being in a snow storm when he and Aria'd searched for Floki, and now they were out and about and the sun was beaming down on them. His latest children had never gotten to meet their uncle, and he felt sad about it.
So what should he tell his daughter? That he didn't even know where her uncle was? That he may never return home, where he belonged? That maybe, he was dead? "Of course you will," he lied sweetly, with a fond smile on his face at the thought of a reunion that would likely never be. He liked to lie to himself, too, if it was most convenient. "He'll be back from his exploration travels one day, just so he can meet papa's little princess." Charon nuzzled the top of Vela's head — as if it wasn't clear enough yet that he meant her when he mentioned his princess — and continued the trek through the forest.
They reached a stream where he paused for a drink and he invited his daughter along with a chuff. Charon lapped at the cool water from the stream. The sun danced on the water through the trees, painting a beautiful picture and he paused to take it in.
