He imagined they would not praise him so highly now. Even still, he felt a gentle warmth fill his cheeks - in a way, unwelcome - and the raven tipped his head in a composed display of gratitude.

He chose silence, then, and deferred the discussion to the matriarch and her husband. While his relationship with the patriarch was complicated at best, the bottom line was that his mother had chosen Greyback to rule alongside her, and there was some peculiar form of respect due to him if only because of this. While Valette seemed no less displeased at the situation, the matter appeared settled. These two would stay, but Merrit still raised a critical brow toward the duo - and found himself taken, again, by the presence of the white one.

Why should she remind him so much of Keen? He knew she was the only reason why he opened his mouth again to defend her. "The pale one is a healer," and he turned his appraisal toward his mother, for he imagined his words might prove significant to her. The conversation they'd shared had not left him yet. If they'd had a medic among them when father had grown ill, perhaps Stark would still be around.
