Maia sure was a sight for sore eyes. The anxiety that he may run into ghosts of his past rather than his friend quickly dissipated as he saw her cheerfully heading his way. His stomach twisted as he watched her come closer. Something was different. This feeling was familiar, for it had happened to him once before in his life, but it also felt weird and very much wrong, all things considered. His mouth was dry as he watched her approach, feeling strange in good and bad ways and everything in between.

Rather than showing any of those feelings he tucked them away and grinned as Maia approached. Something like that. Nothing like that, really. Charon let out a strained breath as he recalled the argument with Amekaze. The stars aligned in all the wrong ways. He shouldn't have come here. It was a mistake. Hydra's heat, the fight with Amekaze -- this was the last place he should've come. But if it was, then why was everything in his body screaming that this was exactly the right place to be?
