The snake made no sound at all. As it moved it seemed to be oblivious of the wolf that followed after it — or maybe it was in a silent panic and seeking freedom before becoming a meal? Either way, Ibis followed after it easily enough. Every time the snake began to divert towards the underbrush of the woods she'd hastily take a step and it would stop, turn, keep going - it was a little game to pass the time.

Finally though, a dark gap appeared and the snake took its chance to slither in to it for safety. Ibis was not trying to hunt the creature, or bother it, but she became so invested in this moment of solo-play that she stopped considering the feelings of the snake. When it began to escape from her she dove after it, missing the head by an inch or two and giving the snake a split-second to hide.

She snapped at it again and almost grappled with its retreating tail, but - it was no use. The creature was gone and she was left as the loser in the game. Yet as she lifted her snout and peered around, she noticed the approaching shape of a wolf and called out to them: Oh! Hello.
