The girl felt dizzy with all of this new information - this terrifying picture of pain, suffering, and death that was painted in her mind's eye. Ibis had no idea what a hallucination was; she didn't know what rabies was, nor what it looked like; she'd seen vomit, but only the bilious offerings of an expectant mother or a milk-drunk child who'd had too much breakfast.

What she gleaned from all that flurry of information was that venom was very bad, and by proxy, snakes should be avoided. Ibis had no idea what to do when faced with such danger so she would make sure to keep far away from the slithering creatures regardless of how safe they looked. If nothing else, Cadeau had managed to frighten the poor girl on to a safer path.

There were plants being offered to her too; something the woman called comfrey. Ibis looked at it with bright eyes, but this last bit didn't quite register for her. There were too many other things that had accumulated that she needed to process.
