Thanks for starting! :D

He would usually be heading back by now. To the little cave he'd found off the side of Goat Mountain. Home, as some might call it. And he wished he could have said there was some great reason that he'd stayed here out longer -- collecting new plants, perhaps, or meeting fresh faces in this still unfamiliar land. But honestly, the end of it was he had simply dozed off, and he'd sure done so rather... um... unexpectedly... the poppies he'd collected still lay at the edge of his make-shift nest, mainly just a swath of grass he'd collapsed into after feeling his grogginess take over.

So now it was night, and stars blinked into focus somewhere in the sky overhead -- at least, he figured so. Couldn't really see beyond the overcast sky, and anyway, his head still felt a bit foggy from the nap. But nothing a good scream of a coyote couldn't solve -- or, um, a lot of coyotes, and he jumped in place as the shadows of the night peeled away, to give way to a dim recognition of a scattering scuffle up ahead.

Two bodies peel away from the fight, and the noise of the night dimmed to silence. Kaito feels, no, probably hears, his thumping heart project into the night, and he clamps his teeth against his tongue to quiet the cry of surprise that rises within. And then he's moving forward, toward the mass hunched over upon the barren land. Fur on end, and troubled eyes bright with the illumination of the clouds, he shouts before thinking, "Hey! Hey, you alright?"

The smell of blood -- squirrel and coyote and wolf -- meet him all at once, and his mind finally catches up with his feet. Kaito staggers to a stop and skids back a step or two, half ready to help, and half ready to book himself off in the direction the rest of the brawling party has already scattered, if this... um... shadowy mass takes a snap at him, too.
