the goal for characters is semi-realism so if it can happen in real life, i'm pretty sure it can happen in-game. with wild fauna, i think that the only thing the CMs need is proof that your character is at their adult age (i could be wrong on that). this is found in the first essentials thread in the guidebook.
for wolfdogs, anything below mid-content (50/50) is considered wild fauna.
the game is set in the pacific northwest so any non-wolf creatures native to that area are acceptable afaik
