Emberwood A new approach found

There was just the scents of the earth, of momentary wanderers. It didn't give her any information she could actually use. It was irritating. Just what the world needed, Arbiter being annoyed. It eroded her patience and willingness to be civil.

She had caught the uneven movement out of the corner of her eye. It pulled her attention as he started talking, and the critical stare that came with it. Was she alright? That was a far more potentially loaded question than she was comfortable with answering. Better to be as standoffish as usual. A slight shake of her head to say 'Not important,' or so was her meaning. Were you part of the pack that was here? The wolf wasn't Ibis. Not even mistakable for her -- maybe if Ibis had gone and somehow switched sex and been darkened a bit. So quite obviously not her, but maybe the sort that Ibis might have attempted to gather. Or something. It was a given that Arbiter was far more critical about anything and everything than Ibis was, so perhaps he had some clue what had happened. Or not. She was pretty disillusioned with a number of things.
