They touched briefly in a warm wolven hug. She smelled of the mountain air, clearly having been up here for the day at least. He was pleased to not see Macaria anywhere in sight, though he hoped that her travels with the woman had been going well regardless of his feelings toward her.
No fish indeed. He grinned, sitting beside her and looking out across the valley. The stars were out, for once, and their light caused a glimmer in her eyes that was quite pretty. Hmm, he said, leaning out toward the view as if bringing himself closer to the side of the mountain would help him see farther. We'll have to keep looking. Land fish are shy beasts, he said, nodding as though he was an expert on all things land fish related.
Where's your pleasant friend? he asked, referring to Macaria. I thought you two were tight. He was curious why they didn't appear to be travelling together. If they were, Taikon had been thrown. He hadn't found the trail of the woman for some time.
