Despite the hardships of the winter months, Aquene almost preferred it. Her fur was too thick for the summer; she wished she could have the best of both worlds: prey a plenty and easy to catch and a nice chill that went down her spine whenever she stepped out from whatever shelter she found at night. It made living difficult, the winter months, especially as a lone wolf… but she did not mind. There always came a thaw, all she had to do was survive through the winter. Moving as quietly as she could through the snow-laden forest, she kept her nose on the prowl. It was the only way to survive.

The hunger pangs ran through her belly and she tried her best to sate them. She’d managed a small rabbit the day before, and she’d used snow and water to try and keep herself full though it did little for her in terms of strength, it only helped with the pangs. She wished she could simply take down larger prey by herself but she couldn’t. She was expecting to catch a prey scent, not the scent of another wolf but the scent drifted her way and her ears perked up, curiosity burning in her chocolate orbs.

She made her approach, a soft shiver down her spine as she prepared for whatever this encounter would have in store for her. “Hello?” The voice rang softly through the air, hesitantly almost as she tilted her head, catching sight of the reddish and brown feminine form in the distance. From there, she could see the herd on the horizon and she could feel the saliva starting to pool in her mouth and her stomach grumbled once more. If she could just have a bite… then perhaps she would be okay.
