Swiftcurrent Creek as the stars fall

The sound of a wolf's footsteps crunching through the dry, yellowed grass jolted Falwasi out of her reverie. She turned her head hastily to find the turquoise eyed Beta waver for a second before walking towards her. Another soft breeze drafted through the air, aerating her body. He looked over her face, giving her a muted nod. The tall wolf angled her face hardly diagonal to Scimitar, "Hello." she said serenely, bowing her head. All thoughts of Bazi dissipated, those of their encounter a few weeks ago occupying her attention. Their previous discussion hadn't been one of pleasantries, and she secretly hoped the brawny male wouldn't hold her to it.

A golden glow gleamed in the sky. Falwasi was standing side-on to it, the light casting a dark shadow on one half of her face, her light brown fur appearing black, the color of areas of Scimitar's pelt. She scanned his body briefly, her eyes freezing on his shoulder. A deep scar ran along the muscle, clearly visible due to the fur parting on either side of it. Falwasi looked up at him and hesitated before she asked delicately: "How did you get that?" She needn't explain what she meant by 'that'; she was sure he would have seen her spot it - she had made no attempt at hiding it. Every wound - new or old - had a story behind it. Falwasi had few of her own, all buried beneath her thick fur like an old secret.
