Moonspear running up that hill

there'd been talk. talk of rolayne and panuk leaving the spear to return home. it was in this talk that acrux lost himself to the words of adults. why would his brothers leave to go home? they were home. they belonged here, with him, with maggak, with anaa and mother. with fathers and friends. this was their home, they did not need to go anywhere else!

his feet wandered just as quickly as his mind did. 

no matter who or how the adults might try to explain their reasoning, a boy built on familial bonds could not shake the feeling that it was wrong. wrong to take away his brothers from their family, wrong to take them away from their home. because this was their home, and all they ever knew or needed was right here on the spear. 

his paws went further, step after step. 

did rolyane and panuk want to leave? did they have a say in this? did he have a say in this? he shook his head, trying to make sense of all he'd heard. if his brothers left, would maggak go with them? would she leave too?! 

his heart beat like a drum in his ears. 

eventually paws came to a sudden stop, breath hitched as he plopped himself on the border's line. here he sat, fearful. afraid that when his brothers crossed this invisible boundary he might never see them again.
