faust watched her. watched the way she glimmered under the glow of the aurora, how her excitement made her seem lighter, brighter. like she could float right off that stone and join the stars themselves.
he huffed.
they happen every night, he said, voice rough, tempered. her giddiness was something foreign to him—like a language he’d never learned but could recognize when spoken.
