he exhaled sharply through his nose, gaze dropping to hers, firm. you have no idea how frustrating this is for me. his voice was low, gritted between his teeth, thick with something unsaid. something barely restrained.
his jaw clenched. she had seen things, she said. lived things. maybe she had. but she still looked at him like he was something he wasn’t, still carried softness where he had none. she didn’t understand, not fully.
