She had felt the hairs crawl upwards in a warning, as Miriam's long ears could hear the sound of others rustling behind. Her legs felt ready to jump, like a rabbit caught in the bright. She did not know how to fight- the bare minimum as the Earls gave short lessons, but combat was their speciality, it was not needed for Maidens, such as herself to learn. She had wished, she asked more, if she knew she was to abandon her motherland, then she would've be more cautious to bring more battle-ready arts with herself.
