Hoping for @Venamis

His sullen mood had only continued to fester, spreading through his veins until every vessel in his body bubbled with violent anger. Alarian used to calm the uncontrollable rage, but now his memories only fueled the darkness. The beast stalked between the meadow and the woods, looking for something to take his anger out on. He felt no protection over the woods but that didn't mean he would punish a trespasser for the release and to wiggle his way further into the pack. So far there had been nothing, and he felt like his tense muscles might rip apart from his bones and explode from his skin. Each pass between territories only seemed to add to the building tension until finally he couldn't take it anymore. He burst forward with a growl, sprinting towards the forest and only stopping once he was between the trunks of the trees that lined the border between the woods and the meadow. His breaths came in heavy pants, his ribs expanding and deflating rapidly as he tried to catch his breath from his momentary loss of control. It was rare he dropped the collected, calculating mask; thankfully no one was around to see his weakness.

Oh, but someone did see.
Venamis, lain among exposed roots of a tall Blackfeather tree, observed the dark-furred Melonii's angry little outburst in silence. A pair of eery white eyes followed Midar's long strides beneath the furrowing of his brow until he eased go a halt nearby, heaving for air.
He continued to seethe at the proximity of a wolf who'd been his father's right-hand man, though could not deny a thirst for knowledge. Where were his parents, his siblings? Some other pack inhabited the woods they'd been unable to claim, perhaps they'd driven them out? Ven frowned, obsidian ears splaying backward as he gathered to large paws and shifted weight to take his leave.
Midar would see this attempt at leaving, surely, and considering how blatantly he'd ignored him since his arrival, Venamis did not consider an interception.

Chest still moving quickly from his outburst, he lifted his gaze and scanned the area to ensure no one actually had seen him. Movement made him freeze, though, violet gaze glued to the retreating form of a young wolf. Something abut it looked familiar, and it was then that he realized who it was. Damien's son, the one who took every opportunity to wear on his nerves when they were all still together. He immediately began to move towards him. He had many questions for the boy, most importantly, why was he here with his father's enemies.
You.The word was low and authoritative. He would have used his name, but he couldn't remember it right then.
Stop,the beast demanded.
We need to talk.He had been preoccupied since joining, mostly with trying to heal and trying to forget how empty he was inside without Alarian. But when he saw Damien's progeny at the pack meeting, he had been reminded of all the things he wanted to ask the boy. He would have sought him out eventually, but he was here now, so Midar wouldn't wast the opportunity.

The beast spied him between the trees and moved his way, though Venamis carried on his way. A single obsidian ear remained canted backward, trained on the sound of paws approaching from behind. It was in this moment that he felt a strong sense of vulnerability, of powerlessness in being stalked, and his estranged uncle barked demand that he halt.
He could run, he pondered. Midar was still not entirely himself, lacking the strength he carried in the days of running as Damien's second. The dark youth turned his alabaster-tipped crown to fix his follower with a cool stare. Venamis had never liked him, having found him totally unpleasant, and his raven brow furrowed at the suggestion that they had to talk.
"No we don't," came Ven's flat response, despite the uncomfortable itch to know of his family's fate. In large part, he feared to learn the truth behind their disappearance and this was his reasoning behind his silence on the matter.

The boy was just as infuriating as he remembered—still disrespectful and petulant. A growl vibrated from his throat before he got his temper under control. Letting his anger get the best of him now wouldn't get him anywhere with the child. He wanted to get him on his side and recruit him to help in his mission, and he wouldn't achieve that if he snarled at the kid.
Fine,he replied flatly.
But aren't you even a little interested in what happened to the rest of the family?he baited. He actually didn't know very much, but Venamis didn't need to know that yet. All the beast wanted to do was get him to stop and listen, and then he could hopefully start to gain his trust.

A lot has changed since we started this thread and I've been playing as though Ven still doesn't know about the Melonii fam. wanna finish here and maybe start an updated one?
A growl, rumbled his way in frustration. It had never been difficult to get under Midar's skin, even as a helpless little cub he'd managed just fine. This occasion did not fill him with the same sense of accomplishment, however, as dread settled like a dead weight in the pit of his belly.
Mention of his family was enough to draw his ears forward, though the motion was fleeting as they splayed backward again. On the one occasion he'd been brave enough to seek out the wood his parents attempted to claim, his paths had crossed with Hela instead. Although his heart thrummed with excited anticipation of learning that his mother wept for him every day, that his siblings sorely missed his tricks, that his father never stopped looking for him, Venamis could not shake the doubt he felt for such things.
They'd never come for him.
He was probably dead to them.
A lost cause. And he didn't want to hear it.
"Nope," he answered and tilted his muzzle upward, unwilling to hear any more on the matter as he resumed his hasty retreat.
