All Welcome
The sea was as tranquil as it could ever be—shifting in perpetuity, each pulse a whisper. Snow drifted as a lazy haze from lavender clouds. Where the marbled blue of the ocean touched the sky there comes a glimmer of tangerine, the palest of shades, bleeding out and fading.

It was tranquil until it simply wasn't—the call of something out in the water beginning some sort of transition, heralding the end of day. Something sharp and quick hastens in to the sky; sickle-shaped wings held aloft, catching the light, and suddenly an uproar spills forth. The gull has found something after all of its waiting, all of its scouring during the day. It spies something netted in weeds and layered atop the dry timbers which only ever see life when the tide comes in: some sort of body?

The gull is hungry, but unlike the newest clutch which has recently begun to nest with the next generation, he is old and wise (for something as inane as a seagull) and so it does not screech, but circles overhead, watching for dangers — drifting closer with each aerial pirouette.

I'm going to assume that she is the body, LOL

During times of peace, the life of a huntress was preferable. It was less stressful than that of a guardsman and didn't come with the same pressure. All wolves could hunt, making a hunter's role less important, but not all were capable of self-defense. Ying knew that once things were settled and their territory was secure, she would claim the role of gēnjú, leaving the border behind.

Until then, she would remain vigilant. Things rarely went overlooked, especially when occuring anywhere on or near the island. Ying could hear the distress in the seabirds' cries, so she went to investigate their finding.

The body was well-hidden amongst sea debris. It took her a moment to realize what it was, but once she did, the guardian leapt into action. She knew that whoever it was, they were in no shape to cause any harm; rather, they were in a position of need. The guardian widened her jaws and locked them onto the victim's shoulder, yanking it with hefty tugs back from the growing waves.

js, I love nukilik already :3
also I made some assumptions here, so lmk if I should change anything!

The calls of birds roused Huā too, from a blissful slumber among the grasses. She arose, heading to the beach, licking her chops with the thought of a freshly caught gull. But instead, she found nuvujak dragging something back from the sea. As she cane closer, the form became clear.

A wolf, lean like the Jiangs and blue-gray like the sea during a storm. She could not tell whether the girl was concious or not, but she certainly seemed weak, limp even. Huā hurried over and gently as ever, placed her own jaws around the wolf's nape like a puppy, helping her sister drag the wolf in without a word exchanged. Only a hurried eagerness to help this creature washed ashore. All the while, she fretted mentally over the fact that she did not know any of them to be a medic.

The isle's namesake bird left the netted lump as soon as the wolves emerged. They knew not to trifle with the beasts. Younger variants continued to hover out of reach, carried on currents of dry air, but even they knew not to impede the terrestrial creatures with their many teeth and bad attitudes; should the lump prove to be a source of food, they would likely try to scavenge - but for now, peace.

Once the body had been pulled from the slick wet mess where it had been lodged, something did change. Blame it on fortuitous timing or the shaking of the body as the sisters jostled it; once free upon the sand the wolf awoke. They felt the pinch of teeth upon nape - took a snorting breath through their nose, and abruptly began to cough and spasm.

With a tilt of her head the wolf retched, arching her spine, feeling the pit of her belly clench and roll. Legs tucked in and then unfurled as she kicked the air blindly, trying to get away from whatever force held her; eyes flying open in panic, and then vomit - not hot and warm as one might expect, but cold and soggy and black like tar. Wet sand oozing from her throat.

The effort was made easy with a second pair of jaws. Soon enough, the body was pulled wholly onto land and set to immediate spasming. Ying leapt back and barked for Hua to do the same, concerned that whatever had taken this wolf was contagious. She had lived by the shore for the majority of her life, but never once had she seen a survivor of the ocean's fury.

Sense soon began to make its return. She moved to stand overtop the she-wolf, hoping to grab onto her scruff to both keep her from lashing out and to ensure that she didn't choke. Her words were muffled as she loudly asked her sister, What do we do?

The body freaked on them, limbs flailing this way and that. Well, at least it was alive. She scuttered backward and immediately released the storm's nape as Ying barked. As the thing's jaws opened to release a flow of darkened sand, Huā quickly turned her gaze away. The sight made her feel just as nauseous. But moreso, she was filled with an overwhelming sense of pity for the sickened castaway.

Ying asks her what to do, and her mind bounces here and there. Was this leadership? Making decisions when it seems hopeless? Perhaps one of the cousins had picked up medicine as a trade in the time she'd not seen them, but she doubted it. Or did Mei know anything? The girl was often reserved, in her religion for example, and so Huā could not be sure. Still, she would try. 那。。。我们有医生吗? She frets with obvious concern. Willing to try anything, she throws back ebony head and howls, a call for any medics.

The first wave of oily black sand came and went; the next was more bile than anything, and led to greedy gasps for air. The wolf felt their lungs fight to expand, the spasm now contained solely to the diaphragm. While the sisters stressed and fussed the wolf fought to breathe and gradually came to control the contortions of their body, until finally they could breathe again — shallow, but constant and necessary. The dizziness of the ordeal left the woman addled, though. Her body rested against the dirt but her attention - via her roving eyes - drifted from the falling snow to the shadows cast by the lean bodies around her. Were this a cartoon she would have constellations dancing around her head.

The stranger's voices shot back and forth like darting schools of fish — the kind she had never known before. She could not make out what they were saying and it was disconcerting. Whether this was an aphasia caused by her current status or some kind of trauma survived, the body - this now living woman - would never know. Her gasps regulated over time and peace came, descending upon her long limbs, stilling whatever had possessed her in her fit of kicking and flailing.

The woman chose to look around at those that had gathered. First she traced those shadows, and then followed them to where dark limbs rested upon the sand, connected to a pale tawny-gold body; black-capped head, sea glass eyes. Besides Hua there was a pale woman, ghost-like and serious in the face, save for the residual panic in her eyes. Sea water dribbled along the found woman's chin and she felt the nearly-numb sensation of her tongue flicking across her cold lips, tasting the salt, the bile. It was almost enough to churn her stomach anew.

Instead she looks to the dark-capped one and opens her mouth as if to speak — but instead, awareness slips from her eyes and she slumps to the sand, unconscious but very much alive.

She would have offered to put the woman back, were she not Ying and her sister not Hua. Rational thought and responsibility were only fun when decisions didn't have to be made, it turned out. When the woman stopped moving, she secretly rejoiced at the possibility of her death.

The huntress took a few steps forward and held her snout against the stranger's chest. Movement pushed her forward to the snout, where she could feel the rhythm of bated breath.

She shrugged her shoulders and walked back to Hua's side. This was a leader's decision — to keep or to dispose — and as she'd said before, Ying had little interest in leadership.

Her call went unanswered for now. Shaking her head with frustration, her ocean eyes gazed upon the stranger once more. A girl their age just struggling to breathe. Huā sighed, wishing she had studied the herbs, wishing she knew any way to help- this woman could not die at her feet.

And as she's looking at her, the girl seems to stare right back- with warm two-tone eyes like honey and tea. Her mouth, opening to say something- Huā was on the edge of her seat to hear it- and the girl collapses again.

Ying checks her heartbeat, which Huā figured was still beating. But the ghost has nothing to say, and instead looks to Huā for a decision. Now she felt the pressure of responsibility. There was no part of her that would consider throwing the castaway back to the sea, but she did wonder how they could afford to care for her. Hoping they had a medic, or medic-in-training, she makes her decision.

请问。。。帮我。 She huffs as she takes hold of the girl's nape again, planning to drag the body inland and praying she would not spasm.

Skipping with permission. Ready to wrap?

The stranger did not pose a threat while in her current state. Ying was unsure of whether that might change once the girl reawoke and knew that however this ended, she could not leave her side. Wolves often acted on instinct when in unfamiliar situations; if anyone had to experience this, she wanted it to be her.

So when Hua asked for assistance, she did not protest. She eagerly took position at the girl's hindquarters, biting into her hock and using it as a handlebar to push her toward safety.

cool! nukilik, thanks for joining- I think someone might tag you in a medical thread soon :) we'll see

The girl did not reawaken from her slumber as Ying helped carry her. Huā was grateful for the sister's strength as the two hauled the castaway inland. Huā would direct the pair towards the cave gaping in the hillside, the quiet, taking the stormy girl just beyond the entrance, safe from weather under the cover. The two would lay her on the cool stone floor. Whether or not Ying remained, Huā would stay beside the girl for a while, awaiting her awakening.
