tamar kissed @Zulema's little head.
"now. will your eyes also open?"
or would they each take their own time? tamar hummed a smile. sunlight pooled at the denmouth.

Zulema's days were full of warmth, comfort, and a full stomach. She did not know anything else, experiencing her world through vibrations, smell, and the sensation of her family around her. Her cries were always eased by the tongue of her mother, her troubles always small. Zulema was familiar of the with the rumbles of the voices around her. However, now there was a shift in the world she'd known, she could see.
Even though her vision was fuzzy, the face of her mother had come into view. Excitement bubbled within Zulema. She was just as excited to see the appearance of her siblings as well, the rust colors of their coats, and their small bodies. Weak squeals and yips were her only response to her newfound sight, finding herself in complete wonder of her beautiful mother, who's features were framed by the light offered from the mouth of the den.

the days since their birth had been idyllic.
tamar understood now why women went into the red bower for birth. it was a time of bonding with one's children, surrounded by the beautiful trees and the golden sand.
and mothers. sisters. aunts. cousins. grandmothers.
her eyes stung suddenly. tamar did not have them here. only their songs, one of which she softly began to sing, a tune about a lovely blue bird who fell in love with the moon.

The high pitched noises from Zulema had trailed off, already spent from the energy she used to show excitement. She moved closer, finding comfort in the feeling of her mother's voice, which was not clear just yet. She was nestled against her siblings and her mother once more. The were hums, that were only vibrations to her at the time were pleasing, lulling her back to sleep with ease. This would grow to be song she would ask for her mother to sing often, reminding her of these peaceful days, full of love and warmth.
not sure if they can hear yet? i will edit if they cannot! :)

i think they can at least sense vibrations at this age!
tamar went on.
it felt good to sing old songs. it felt as those she had not seen for so many months were with her now. the notes of her own voice transported her to the sight of mama, seated among cushions of gentle fur with a new pair of brothers, and all the women gathered around.
singing.
tears pricked the corners of her gaze. she buried nosetip in zulema's downy fur.
