Silence enveloped the young lovers, and Rannoch found himself noticing every movement that Liffey made; he couldn't help but wonder what was going through her mind, and if she had any idea of how their flirtatious remarks would progress. Unlike Liffey, he had never been taught the birds and the bees. Through various conversations with those he was closest to, Rannoch had deduced the gist of it; although he was aware of what was going to happen, he wasn't confident in his abilities. 

His worries were temporarily pushed aside as Liffey nestled herself into the downy fur underneath Rannoch's chin, and he smiled warmly. "I love you more than anything, Liffey Frostfur," he said as he reached to kiss her forehead and savored her scent. 

There was an instinctual force within him that urged him to progress, and he obliged. "And I'd like to do with you what mates do— but only if you want to." And despite his fear of rejection, he did not let this feeling arise; he remained collected as he waited for Liffey's response.
