Wapun Meadow From revolution to revelation

After that first disastrous hunting lesson, Nunataq - the once star pupil - had downsized considerably and was practicing her skills on smaller game. It turned out that this important survival skill she had to master was more complex, when you had to do it on your own. Not only the prey were not very keen on climbing in your mouth themselves, but there was a whole art of, how to open a carcass (unless it was a rodent) to get to the best bits. When left to her own devices, Nuna did a better job at focusing, watching and learning. And, when she was not stalking after her father on guardian duties, she was out in the Wapun meadow (which she considered an extension to Bearclaw valley; like a front porch), mastering her skills.

Needless to say that she was lucky in just 1 case out of 10. On most days, there were even more attempts and no results at all. But this difficulty did not deter her from trying and working. And today she believed she had hit a jackpot. Her smell memory was not that good, therefore she did not recognize scent trail left by a hare, but she happened to stumble upon the long-eared fellow by accident. It made a jump and beelined away from the five-month old, to whom it took just a second more to realize that this was the part, where she had to run as well. And very fast.

So she did and in the thrill of the hunt, she did not notice the other party, who had eyed the rabbit.
