All Welcome
Dauntless found himself near Kaistleoki, but he wasn't quite ready to bound in and start asking about his brother. He had lived there once upon a time, though those memories were fleeting and short. Depending on how things went there with his brother, Dauntless would then have three options on where to live, and he knew he'd have to choose one. He was still thinking about how he should start courting women, too. Wasn't this the best time of year to pursue such a thing? He knew about the birds and the bees (or rather, the wolf version of it) and how this season in particular attracted male to female (and vice versa).

This was where his thoughts were when he was making the very slow descent down the western side of The Sunspire toward his brother's home, wondering if he would get the chance to sire children next year. This year seemed impractical, given that Dauntless hadn't even really started to court somebody. Perhaps next year would be a better time for such a thing, and that gave him plenty of time to date around and find somebody to fall in love with. Because he knew he certainly wanted to do that first.

Chai had slipped away from the company of her new pack, Whitebark. But only temporarily of course and not without a quick word to Dawn. She wanted to stretch her legs. To get some time to herself. She headed towards the great Sunspire mountain range. She found that once she arrived at the most western side, she could see clearly down into the lowlands below, where unknown to her, her previous pack now resided.

She had been doing reasonably well in her new home. She had participated in a hunt and was slowly getting to know each face. But her struggle with depression was still very real. Now, as she settled on a sturdy, sunny ledge whose surface was dusted in snow, she felt that feeling of misery return. Her blue eyes were soft as she gazed out ahead, ears pinned back slightly. She breathed a quiet, shaky sigh. She was hating this season. Alone and on an emotional roller coaster, fighting her inner battles. And all the while everyone else was feeling amorous. It just made her feel worse. She dared not think about what she'd be like when her heat finally hit.

The bumbling wolf continued down the mountain, careful not to misstep, lest he careen to the bottom and end up carrion for some unsavory creatures. His pace was slow and steady, but not painstakingly so. Daunty felt like he was making good progress, but he slowed when he realized there was another wolf up ahead. Figuring it was a good opportunity to see if she knew anything about his brother, he routed himself down to her. His approach wasn't quiet at all, surely alerting her to his presence long before he greeted her with a short, happy "BORK!"

It wasn't until he got closer that he realized she looked a bit down in the dumps. Not only that, but she smelled like Dawn. That meant she was probably part of the pack his sister had started. Hey there! he said once he was a few paces away. Everything okay?

Sorry for the wait!

The sound of someone approaching, and quite loudly at that, roused Chai from her thoughts. His loud, boisterous call made her flinch, ears pricking up suddenly. He was full of energy and appeared quite cheerful. So very much unlike herself. Somewhere buried inside, were those same emotions, not having seen the light of day in a long time.

Visibly surprised, she scooted into an upright sitting position, flicking her soft blue eyes at him. She squinted. She hadn't seen this particular wolf before. She angled her face to the side as he voiced concern, tail curling over her paws. "Oh um...yeah. Just...goin through a tough time..." That wasn't entirely a lie, but Chai was far too modest to outright admit the whole truth - especially one related to the season, to a total stranger.
