just another huā thought vent just scattered onto a post LOL

The influx of foreigners was not much of an influx- just the two of them- but she didn't know how to feel about it. Already, she felt that the strangers were all around them. It was her fault for welcoming them, perhaps- but how could she not? Chuntao had dissapeared for now, telling Huā she would scout out the North before returning- Huā could only fret over her. The rest of the cousins that had shown were not enough on their own to establish a pack.

The tension with Rusalka kept her awake quite often. She rested in the cavern she'd named the Quiet. Ever since she'd laid Nukilik there, she had found the place a relaxing break from the noise and color and light of the outside world. Still, thoughts of their enemies kept her awake. And when she closed her eyes, she could still see Erzulie, Reyes. Rosalyn, the one she'd trusted. She could see them taking the isle, hurting her cousins, stealing the children that would come in the spring. The scoundrels were the reason she needed more and more members.

And so she had to reluctantly welcome individuals like Orochi. A hard-headed fire, legless with a fat ego and a harsh vocabulary. He was handsome and frustrating, and she knew he would be causing trouble soon. But she needed people like him- who could threaten and swear and tear apart an enemy. She had not yet seen his fighting or hunting skills- but perhaps she would ask Ying to test him soon.

And then there was Nukilik. The castaway, who arrived in black-tar sand and seaweed and the general muck of the bottom of the ocean. And yet, even after seeing the girl spasm and throw up and spasm, Huā still looked at her some type of way. Her eyes were like honey and tea, her coat like the blue ocean on the stormy day. Huā only wanted to see her thrive. And selfishly, she hoped the girl would not leave once she healed. She wanted her here. She wanted to get to know her better, and heal her, and kiss her. Thinking of Nuka had her feeling strangely uncomfortable with herself- something must be wrong with her. She could not deny it; the feelings she'd had this spring were utterly confusing. Andromaque, Chip, Lumiya, Nukilik. Huā knew that a man and a woman were best for a strong empire. An empire could not be sturdy without the foundation created by fresh blood. She ought to distract herself with some man and get over whatever sickness she had caught.
