There wasn't anything but exhaustion anymore. Lainie's hind legs quaked uncontrollably as she walked, every so often causing her enough distress that she had to pause and struggle to work out the stress in the injured muscles. Hunting wasn't something she could do alone, she had taken to following the big black birds she often saw around carasses. Occasionally she had stumbled across abandoned kills but there had never been much left, the birds that tried to yank her tail and mess around with her had been a good snack when she could react quick enough to snatch one. It had been only a few weeks of struggle but she regretted leaving Easthollow....Valette had been so nice. She had only taken scraps from their caches because she knew she'd fail to fill them again, her lack of use was why she'd set off again to find her family.

Papa and Zephyr. The only ones who remained. They both probably hated her guts, Zeph had chased her into a storm and she'd... she'd yelled at her father and abandoned him. Was he even alive? She wandered aimlessly, unsure where to go or where to look. She figured she was probably way off track once the signs of being in the valley changed into new sights. The Maplewood was where she finally broke down, laying against a tree and struggling to catch her breath.  Her thoughts tore her down, convincing her that she wouldn't get to her family this time around. She had finally done it, she'd messed up and gotten herself stuck alone and helpless.
